he supports all local Jersey sport teams, and wants them to do well but he wouldnt class himself as a hockey fan. He said this years ago, maybe he changed his mind ?

Just because he doesn't follow the sport doesn't necesarily means he hates it.
He has openly said how much he hates golf but not hockey.
