Dear Soul Fans,

I just want to address my actions at last night’s Soul vs. Georgia Force game. As everyone knows my passion for our game and my passion for our team runs very deep and last night it got the best of me. I was caught up in a moment and my emotions took over. While I do not want to rehash everything, I addressed the matter with the media, the AFL, ESPN and the Georgia Force. I never should have done it, I didn’t mean it and I am sorry. I would hope that this incident will not tarnish our team, our league, our partners and most of all our great fans.

Sincerely,

Jon Bon Jovi

It's all gone a bit mad these days, eh. I could sort of understand the brewhaha if he were the coach [coaches do it, they get nabbed on tv, they're *gone* so to speak...got to *set a good example* and all that whatever]...but Jon is part owner...who should give a rats toss whether he sits there smiling like a dumb ass idiot, or gets involved and passionate about what he's seeing and being *in the moment*...arhhh...the *price* of fame. What's the bet if the owner of Philly Soul were anyone OTHER than Jon, the bloody cameras wouldn't have been on them anyway.

Good thing there's not this sort of attention applied to the fans at games, be it arena football, soccer, AFL...there'd be no bloody fans at the games and the papers would be front to back and every page in between full of *apologies*.

I doubt if was Jon’s idea for that apology. He was probably pressured to do it. I blame Janet and Justin, ever since their “wardrobe malfunction” TV networks have become so tight about anything that may seem offensive.

* I wonder if his kids were watching the game?

Here's the thing guys, if Jon was just a team owner at a game and did that in a moment of frustration it would have probably been fine, but he's not.

For good or bad, Jon is the most recognizable face in Arena Football, along with Jon Elway and though they have been trying in the last year to put more emphasis on the players and the game itself, and less on him to casual watchers he is the "face" of this very family oriented sport.

The AFL has alot of corporate partners, ie businesses who are very sensitive to how consumers feel about things like this, they have to it effects their business.

Jon is famous which puts a target on his back every time he steps out of his driveway

This is the ambassador for Habitat for Humanity, a guy that makes speeches and asks for lots of money from people to help other people with.

It sucks IMO that such a big deal was made about this but it is the times we live in, doesn't make it right but Jon knows how it works, hence the apology.

Thank you. Finally someone gets it.

No I got it - I am just getting tired of all the apologising. In this day and age Jon is a saint in comparison to some.

Right now on the from page of the New York Times are 3 headline apologies.

1. Don Imus - again
2. World Bank Chief Apologizes for Arranging Job
3. Prosecutor Apologizes to Former Duke Players

How about thinking before you act (or speak) instead of apologising? A two finger salute doesn't even rate on that list the way I see it.

Kathleen
