I really don't see a 5 year break between them now. It could be a 2 - 2+1/2 year break between albums, years between tours. And I could almost guarantee that the record company would want SOMETHING to keep the fans spending dough on the band during the break. I honestly don't see Richie coming up with a solo album anytime soon, he's not as driven as Jon is when it comes to pursuing his ambitions, my guess is he'll concentrate on his clothing line and we might see a song or two based on the silly concept they have over there....

I don't think even Jon knows what Jon wants to do.
That was good!!

Well I think Jon knows perfectly what he wants, but the thing is that,at the same time he wants to please everybody, their fans, the record company, the band, the family..and he also want to stick to his number one sales/band/tour. He hates the fact of remain a step back (enough pride there) .So even if he wants a break,he has a dilemma himself because it's imposible to please everything he wants in one move, or at least he wouldn't want to take the risk (and think he knows perfectly the age they have)

I wouldn't like being John..

It doesn't matter what Jon says, we know that he lies.

Break yes, they hardly had a few months off in the last few years, but I don't see a long one because at least in Jon's case, he loves the spotlight too much. I would love to see Richie with an album and perhaps a short tour on his own. Also David could have more time for his musicals and hey! he could give Jon the lead in one, so he would have the spotlight again, LOL

I'm getting burnt out myself, I only see a bunch of stuff lately that seems to be done to please the masses, and perhaps to "to hit a hit". Not the band I felt in love with years ago.

The fans need a break as much as they do.

They've been touring extensively since 2000, anyone who wants to have seen them has had the chance and many of us have seen them 5+ times over the last decade. The shows haven't even varied that much. It's just been a different stage with a few tracks off the latest album thrown in.

They need a good three year break. They all look pretty bored at the moment. Especially Richie, who needs to forget about Bon Jovi (C) and do something he really wants to do for a while.

It's not like they need the money anymore either.

They are too old to take a long break. And They do not want to be out of the spotlight for too long.

They need to finish the tour. Release some solo stuff, Some soundtrack stuff, whatever. Hopefully another box set. And then, BANG, another band album w/ tour.

They make their money from touring.

But they are def becoming way overexposed and repetitious. A small break is needed.

Hopefully some solo stuff where they can experiment with different sounds would do the trick

Not before time. They should have called it a day long before now. I'm looking forward to some new solo material, because I've gone off the modern day Bon Jovi formula. It's one directional, boring and quite frankly very poor.

If that means we'll get a new Richie's album, a solo Richie's tour and live performances of Father Time and The Answer... fine by me

I could see them taking a break for a year or two, but not much longer.
Not saying I agree or disagree, but just saying.

It won't be a long break. I actually think they're at the stage where its time to call it a day - much better to go out on a high than it is to go because everyone is sick of you. But I expect Jon to keep going until everyone tells him to **** off, so...
