At least keep it in the family... Dorothea's father was a chemist for Loreal.

And that was better than most of the stuff on WAN and The Circle.

That moment when a song written for a TV ad is better than the past albums. It gives WWYDF a run for its money with the insane amount of rasp.

oh man - i dont spend a lot of time here anymore and i want to keep the faith....but honestly when this place gives a pass to something like this the bar is so low as to possibly not be salvageable....

3 pages in and i am the first one to make the obvious blanket statement that this is embarrassing....

he even pimped out his talent for a commercial jingle....

someone please find the standards for this rock and roll band and their fans and restore it....

It is not the first time Jon has done commercials. But he has reached a point where he cannot lose more integrity in my eyes. But I just realise that I actually dont care at all. He can write songs for Clinton and Trump for all I care. The RT trips just took away the last bit of hope of Jon having AT LEAST a bit of personality and principles. But people like Jon will always have an easy life because they adapt to everything just to make money and a bit of fame.
I used to make fun of Bono a lot and never would have imagined that Jon would actually be below Bono in my book.
The only thing Jon is good at these days is taking pictures with fans and flashing his white teeth. He is pretty awesome at satisfying his poster image but is absolutely turning into his own caricature. But everybody has got his talents and Jon just doesnt have anything else left.

Jon looks like a tired old lesbian.

But on a negative note, that ad stinks on ice.

Are u guys here are really serious? I mean its only a freaking commercial! This is NOT going to be the BJ sound for the new album! Are u guys here are so naïve and dumb to think that? Or maybe because a lot of u here are not really fans, just like to bitch and complain about everything. Jon has had a long 30+year career, he can ANYTHING HE WANTS TO DO NOW, and guess what, HE DOES NOT NEED YOUR APPROVAL OF ANYTHING. Now in fairness, maybe his last couple of albums may not have been the greatest in the world, but THIS IS NOT THE 80'S! OR 90'S! and I as a long time fan I accept that, Jon nor the band owe my ANYTHING! I am not going to demand them to make the kind of record I want to hear just to please me or fill me ego, which it seems many of you here tend to do, bitch and complain about not only his "lazy, uninspiring, lack of talent, has no voice, can't sing nor perform on stage no good talent" boy sometimes I wish Jon could see this website, the first thing he would say is "FU" he is NOT going to bow down to u guys just because u don't like his new music, and look I am not saying u have to like it, I mean there are some stuff of BJ recently I don't like either, but I am not going to totally disrespect the guy or the band neither, When he goes on the road, he goes with his full heart, even if everything is falling apart in his personal or professional life, he goes on like a trooper, and yet u guys still are not satisfied, especially the last tour, his long time guitar player just left him without any warning, he had personal issues with his daughter, health issues, esp. with his knees, goes on a stage with a knee brace and still performs as well as he could, and yet some of u hear, its not good enough. Can u guys here who constantly criticize him, belittle him, making him seem like he is a no good musician at all, at least respect Jon for at least doing what I just mentioned? He could have easily just cancelled the last tour, but HE DIDN'T he moved forward, FOR U GUYS!! but once again, for some of u here, its still not good enough. So I probably said ALOT here, but I have been this board for a while now and I am at a point where I feel that some "fans" here just want to belittle Jon. Now of course Jon is not perfect, he may have done some things that maybe we might question, but once again, ITS HIS DECISION, NOT YOURS! He can do what he wants to do with his career and life now because simply HE HAS EARNED IT! He toured and toured for many years in the 80's , back to back tours, even when he started his family, he toured, sacrificed many things from his children, not attending there school plays, football games, he still toured. I think now he is at a point in his life where he can do what he wants to do, and maybe that is probably one of the reasons why Richie left, he realized that he was getting older and just wanted to move on and do something different, which I can totally respect, maybe he could have just done it in a different way.
And one more thing, the whole thing of the Runaway Tours, u guys bitch and complain about how crazy expensive to go, well, yes, they are expensive, I could not afford it, but do u see me bitch and complain, no, if u can't afford it, then u can't, and for the ones who can, what is the big deal, why complain about it, why make it a big deal that they charge what they charge, just because he does it does not make him a "sell out" or anything, again, ITS HIS SHOW, ITS HIS LIFE, sounds like some of u hear who complain about are just jealous, just my opinion.

OK, enough of my soapbox, if I offended anyone here, I am sorry, but I just had to let this out of my chest, if u don't agree of what I said, that's fine, u don't have to, its just my personal observation of this board. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Ok...first of all CALM DOWN.

Do you realise that there is a difference between being fan of a person and worshipping him and enjoying great music and in my case good concerts?.
There is not ONE band (who is a serious act anyway) where people get SO defensive and personal all the time? I know I had my fair share of crititizising Jon but that is because he makes it all about him and his image.

When I became a fan it was because I liked the BAND'S way of music, melodies, acoustic moments, good concerts, that - despite the focus on Jon whch was by far less than it is now- they seemed like a band who did not only believed in the hype. There was just music I totally enjoyed. Even with 15 I hated it when people were focussing on Jon's looks. Not because I didnt like him or thought he was cute, but because music was WAY more important to me. Since then, The quality of the albums and the concerts have deteriorated and the focuse on Jon has increased. And for me that has nothing to do with earning it, sorry, that has something to do with being to focused on yourself.

And despite you saying he doesnt need other people's approval, by saying 'it was a chip on their shoulder' and 'it is about integrity' it seems it is a lot about someone who needs others to justify his own work. It is like saying 'I know you will jump off that bridge' and in the end I will prove that I do not jump off that bridge just because you said so (which is in my opinion almost as bad as jumping off that bridge). It is like someone telling me that I am weak and I try to show how strong I am by proving him wrong, which is totally ridiculous, btw.

Jon is not my friend and he has done nothing for me personally so why in god's name should I appreciate him as a great person? He made music and I paid money to go to the concerts. It is a 'business-relationship' something Jon makes very clear himself by saying that he is 'the CEO of a big corporation' (this one was one of the most stupid comments he has ever made because he wanted to show off with how important he is to impress football moguls)
I am not paying money to appreciate that Jon is getting through a tour under really bad circumstances. I can feel sorry for him but he is NOT doing it for ME as you said, he is doing it as it is his job.
When I work even though I am sick it is my responsibility and no boss will give me 'high five for it'. When I have troubles at home, I still have to get my work done as hard as it may be.

Yes, it is his life and he does not fail to mention how independent he is but he has his whole family involved and many other people who work with him, so he is not at all the big shot he claims to be.

He can do whatever he wants and I am not jealous of his career, because I have my own life, friends, work, volunteer work and so on. But I can still have the opinion and voice it that the music has become uninspired, Jon's voice doesn't do it for me anymore and that I find the RTs a slap in the face from someone who was once part of a rock band and not of a posh one-man-show.

I can see you're not past your disappointement for not being noticed as you should have been at the Soul Kitchen. You should get over it, really, some things are worse in life
