I'd be happy to be half the failure he's been.

Then answer the question. Outside of his own music, what else has Jon done that makes him such a "great business man'? Or even a success?

That's like asking Bill Gates or Steve Jobs "Outside of computer and software development, how were you a "great business man" or a success?"

Stupid question as per usual from the booper.

He has created a money-making machine that continues to produce while his voice, looks and musical creativity (hallmarks of rock and roll stardom) decline.

As a side note, I think Jon is well aware of the deterioration of his voice and I don't doubt for a moment that he doesn't work with a vocal coach. However, despite his vocal issues, he obviously feels that he can still deliver a performance worth the money. The band's heyday is over but the fact that they can still draw 20,000+ proves that the machine is able to produce interest for thousands to put in the time, travel and money.

Can you honestly be serious with this question?

That can be asked of anyone with a successful career. A lawyer or a Doctor. Apart from being a successful Doctor what else have you done?

He has run his music career for 30 years.

"as long as we're friends...." The words are so good because he had no idea what was coming. I wouldn't put this with any regard. Had he said it post Richie's removal and Tico's injury then sure it might hold weight.

I picked up on that too. Ironic that he said that in March of last year.

The bottom line is, Jon is not going to stop making music so if youre a Jon fan, expect much more. I personally would love a few solo records and then see the band regroup in 5 years so this doesn't bother me at all. It's also very simple when u break it all down.

Between albums, tours, and other band related projects, these guys been non stop for the past 14 years. They need some real time away from each other like they did from '96 to '99 (end of tour to start of new album).

Jon got so caught up in the business aspect of it all, he kept pushing for more and more. 20 million per tour and album is a shit load of money. Plus he needs to work for his crew to work.

All fair points I agree with except for the last bit. He doesn't work so his crew can work. He's made the point that if he stops mid tour everyone is out of work but the same point won't apply if he doesn't book a tour, they just find other ones to go on. I don't think Jon is booking tours so the people he prefers to employ will be able to work, if they're sitting around waiting for Jon to tour they're probably not very good.

Personally I don't see them pulling their shit together in another 5 years, I think the boat has sailed on them. But Jon will keep being Jon but under his own name, that's just my opinion.
