Default Jon on Anti-Gun "Hit List"

At the 2013 Super Bowl, Jennifer Hudson sang America The Beautiful with children from the Sandy Hook school where the murder of dozens of children occurred. Someone posted a video of it on another message board I frequent, and mentioned that members of Hudson's family had been shot to death by her estranged brother-in-law. I posted a video of Bullet and indicated that Jon said in an interview that it had been written about her.

This turns up on the board today from the Nation Rifle Association's web site:

The following organizations have lent monetary, grassroots or some other type of direct support to anti-gun organizations. In many instances, these organizations lent their name in support of specific campaigns to pass anti-gun legislation such as the March 1995 HCI "Campaign to Protect Sane Gun Laws." Many of these organizations were listed as "Campaign Partners," for having pledged to fight any efforts to repeal the Brady Act and the Clinton "assault weapons" ban. All have officially endorsed anti-gun positions.
I thought, "Oh, wouldn't if be funny if...Nah, probably just a coincidence." But I decided to do a search, and bingo, there he is:

Jon Bon Jovi -- Singer

Given the passion with which the gun lobby protects their right to get rich selling you guns even if it kills them (and others), this may not the kind of "hit list" you want to be on. At least they had the decency not to include Hudson...

I'm neutral about Jon doing this, as I care for his music. But it's nice to know that he uses his head and money to pass the anti-guns law. Because, really, why do americans need guns? Do you need an assault rifle to defend yourself? With a handgun should be enough. How many shootouts in schools or shoppings do the population need to say "enough"?
Edit: Also, it's great that he does humanitarial job and don't brag about it on every concert like Bono, I can picture him telling to the ones with guns in their houses to get the **** off with his concert. The poor guy need more attention that my six years old sister.

Yes -- it's the assault weapons we need to ban again, and to make obtaining a gun at least as hard as, say, a driver's license. The problem is that the gun industry sees gun control as an attack on their profits, and so they try to convince us that a) shootouts by maniacs are the price of freedom and b) the only real solution is to arm everyone!

It looks like Jon is doing something right. Though, besides hosting fund raisers for Democratic Presidential candidates, I don't ever remember hearing him come out against guns. Does anyone have a quote on the subject?

For the United States gun industry, Jon's reason for writing Bullet is enough of a crime.

I have things to say on this topic, but I think it would be best to internalize them. Don't wanna start that debate.

LOL, looks like talking about guns in USA is not allowed. Based on your comments.

I remember Jon saying years ago that he owned a gun but that it was a gift and he would probably shoot himself in the foot if he ever got it out to use.
Only in America do you get guns as 'gifts'!

Different nations and different habits. I would hate to have a gun at home. I also don't see any reason for Americans to have their. However, that's just my opinion based on growing up in a different culture. You can't say what is better. You just have to count with consequences like what happened at the school if you let anyone (even the stupidest and irresponsible ones) have guns. We have to count with the fact that when someone comes to my house to steal something, I can't protect my family and property with nothing better than a knife.

Are we really going to have a gun debate on a Bon Jovi forum?
