Jon likes bands like Creed (he stated that a couple of times).
jus because I like Jon's own music (most of the time) does not mean in the slightest that i like his music taste just because he has given it his "seal of approval"

Why?
Because it really is a great CD. Not to mention the lyrics are a heck of a lot better than:

Bounce, Bounce...blah, blah, blah.

I just think the album has a deep meaning that you don't find on Bounce. To say that he finds it "Okay" is an insult being that Bruce wrote a lot better songs on The Rising than BJ did.
definitely... some of those lyrics in the rising are 100% genius also... just the way they are set to music...

"I want a kiss from your lips, I want an eye for an eye"

99% of bruce fans aren't upset about him releasing the rising - they are mostly upset that he is doing stadium tours instead of arenas...

i wouldn't mind Jon saying that at all if he had written a good album himself - but since he hasn't...

I guess Jon likes Bounce better than the Rising. So do I. The Rising bores me. As does Bruce in general.

yes, a very stupid comment! why mess with the really big ones when he can be malicious against all does "nu-metal" bands.
I would say that was the stupid comment.

Much as we love Bon Jovi ,Jon and Richie have never been able to hold a candle to Bruce songwriting wise. Comparing the Rising and Bounce is apples and oranges in my opinion but I love them both. To me The Rising is an artistic work that also put into lyrics what many of us were feeling. Bounce is a great Bon Jovi album which touches on 9/11 with the usual hope, faith, and optimism we have come to expect from Bon Jovi. Jon has said he did not want to tell the stories of 9/11 but that he wanted to focus on where we go from here. Both are important. Does Jon wish he was Bruce sometimes- sure he does. But Bon Jovi have nothing to be ashamed about with Bounce and the Bounce tour- they are still rocking after 20 years. Since I love both I hate to see comparisons- like comparing my kids.

the band are still rocking of course - they always do live...

but studio is the platform whereby most of the world hears them...

also the bounce material live doesn't sound as good as the old stuff

If anyone other than the almighty Bruce wrote an album with such a narrow focus, it would be trashed.

In Russia no one knows Bruce. Lots of people over there do what Bruce does songwriting-wise . So his music doesn't stand a chance there. Old news.

That is my point- I can think of few songwriters that could write such a narrowly focused, descriptive work on 9/11 and not have it be an exploitation. But The Rising was not that at all- it is an incredible work.

I don't know Val. I don't want to offend you, but to me having a CD totally focused on those events DID come across like he was exploiting them. Of course people would flock out to buy his CD because it should tug at our American heartstrings.
