Songwriting is the closest thing to immortality that we'll ever know. Music can take you back and unlock time and memories that you hold dear. He's been blessed for the last 30 years to wake up every morning and do what he loves to do. Songwriting is first for him. It's magic to witness a song coming to life and the icing on the cake is to share it with an audience. He's been blessed with the same band, same record company and for almost his entire career the same publishing company. He's been fortunate to write #1 songs by himself and with collaboration. He thanked Richie, Desmond, Billy Falcon and all the other great songwriters he's shared credit with. He said they made going to work fun. He thanked his record company, "whatever it's called these days." He talked about being there for the gold rush when a record could sell 20 million copies and also being there when Tower Records shut its doors. He talked about how the arts are interdependent and intertwined.
That's nowhere near word for word, but a general overview. I hope you can get the audio to work to hear it for yourself.
