I think you're right. What kinda bothers me about that, is that from now on I expect future albums to be just as slow and mellow, mostly fitting in the "pop" categori rather than the "rock" categori. If thats the case, I wont buy albums anymore but stick to listening to the old albums.

Well see, the thing is, I really do believe that Jon still possesses the ability to reach some real high notes. But like another post said, I just think he stopped really trying. Obviously, as you get older, things like singing at the same level as you were in your younger days are harder to keep up with. And with the way Jon used to sing and hit some real high notes, if that's not practiced very often, especially when older, it's going to become extremely difficult to sing that way. And yes, the smoking has not helped either. At a younger age, those high notes definitely come more naturally, but as a person ages, a singer really has to give strong effort to hit the notes. And with Jon, it seems like as he realized those higher notes weren't an easy task to hit anymore, he pretty much stopped training his voice to go to that powerful level. It's like that with anything. I don't care how good you are at something, if you stop practicing it for a while, you're going to become rusty. And I think Jon's at the age where working to get the voice that he once had is just too much. Could he get his voice to the same level as before? I think he could. But, Jon and the band are such great entertainers that it's not really needed as much. Sure i'd love to hear Jon sing Always or Something to Believe In again as he once did. And as he may not be able to hit those high notes anymore, the notes he can hit sound extremely well and yes, he still possesses a powerful set of vocals.

Yep, I agree with you. With this album he really has seemed to of found where his vocal range lies and uses it very powerfully.

I love his voice still. I love how he is using it these days.

No. It's not powerfull and This is one of the main reasons the new songs don't appeal to me as the old ones.

But it seems that Jon is not bothered to practice his voice again, as he shows that he's smoking more than ever:

That`s the reason he can sing the new songs cause the 85 % are mid tempo and slow ballads.

Say it isn`t so.
Thank you.
Two Story town.
Next 100 years.
Mystery Train.
Save the World.
Captain Crash.
She`s a Mystery.
I got the girl.
Joey.
Misunderstood.
All about loving you.
Right side of wrong.
Love me back yo life.
You had me from hello.
Open all night.
Welcome to wherever you are.
Who says.
Wildflower.
Last Cigarette.
Story of my life.
Lost highway.
Summertime.
Make a memory.
Whole lot of leaving.
Seat next to you.
Everybody`s broken.
One step closer.
I love this town.

The 00`s songs that he can force his voice are:

It`s my life.
Just Older.
One Wild Night
Undivided.
Everyday.
Hook me up.
Bounce.
Have a nice day.
I want to be loved.
Last Man standing.
Bells of Freedom.
I Am.
Complicated.
Novocaine.
Dirty Little Secret.
Any Other day.
Stranger.

There's a button on your keyboard with and <-| - mark on it. It's called "Enter". Press it every once in a while to make paragraph changes so someone could read your posts.
