That's different though. Everyone was there to see him, and were more than likely expecting something special for his BDay. Nobody (or hardly anybody) wants to see Denise, I'm sure Jon's aware of that too.

It's not a double standard at all. It's totally different. #1. The surprise on Jon's birthday actually took place on his birthday, not the night before. And #2. that incident was organized by the band, not Jon's wife. If the band wanted to mention Richie's birthday and bring out a cake for him the night before I'd have no problem with it but Denise has no business coming out on stage to give Richie a cake. Glad it is not happening.
