Theres always a bit of an image thing with guitars sure, its not all about if it is strictly necessary!

Sure, doesn't Bruce use an electric on almost every song, yet I don't think I've actually heard it! Electric guitars are 'sexy' sure, apparently.

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

I bounce back and forth on that. Bm G D G A is infinitely easier to play than...whatever it is without it. To me it's the image of the double neck. It's pointless to have the neck WITHOUT the capo. He has it just to do that run with the open E and B strings in the solo but lugging around a double neck just for a bar or two of a solo could only mean it's to look damn cool. It's not practical but rock and roll isn't I guess.

Because looks cooler than .

At least for Have a Nice Day.

And without the capo, the riff is C#m, E, A, E, B, B. I think it's easier with the capo.

Have a Nice Day sounds much better using the capos and open chords so it's a voicing thing again.

It's been years since I've played it but isn't there some open strings on the solo hence why he uses the double neck?

I disagree ... Except for some crazy lunatics like some of us, nobody gives a damn about what chords Richie is playing ...

There is. It feels like a lot of effort for a few ringing notes. Playing it without them wouldn't sound THAT different.

Nor would it look as cool.

But like Bounce442 said, it's a Tele (and more importantly, NOT an ESP), so I'm not complaining either.

Well said. And you're right. Give me that guitar and I'll give you an excuse to play it.

I was just saying that the capo isn't necessary. Yes, playing with the capo on the opening riff sounds a bit different than playing it with bar chords, though I doubt it is any easier for Mr. Sambora. Plus, he changes up the way his riffs are played a lot.

Yeah it doesn't, there's been a few times Richie's had to use a single neck guitar and then play the solo on that, like when he broke his shoulder so couldn't hold the weight & at Manchester last year when the double neck was knackered for some reason
