My thoughts exactly. It would have taken too long if they were all going to thank someone. And since they all know the same people and have the same management, they would be thanking all the same people... (IMO)

I thought it was a very very nice speech btw

He is thanking the other bandmembers ... That's nice in a way but it's BON JOVI who won the award - Not just Jon himself!!
When I clicked on my cable guide for information about the show, it said that an award of merit will be given to Jon Bon Jovi. Of course I think they got it wrong, but I was pretty surprised to see that.

Anyway, I think it would have been rude not to thank the other band members for their contribution to the band as a whole.

At least half the press covering it that I saw said that the award was being given to Jon. I wonder if that's what the AMA released or if it was just a mistake. Typically, the press is more likely to call Jon "Bon Jovi" rather than calling "Bon Jovi," "Jon Bon Jovi."

What a nice speech. I never watch award shows(uninteresting to me). However if I knew BJ was accepting this award I would have definitly watched it. That was a nice speech. I don't see anything wrong with Jon speeking on behalf of the band.

Vertigo, nice avatar!! I loved the show Dinosaurs!!!

I don't think anyone is upset that Jon spoke for the band...what I think P.O'd some people is how he, probably unintentionally made it seem as the award was given to *him* alone...ie...thanking his parents and wife while the others didn't have that opportunity.

Yes, he thanked the other guys...but in a way that could be taken as
'thanks for getting this for *me*' not 'for *us*'.

AS I said, this may be completely unintentional...I've noticed this tendency before...but I can see where people could be a little taken back by it.

You people are absolutely incredible. You shake my faith in humanity. A group of scientists should study you to figure just what the **** is wrong with you so future generations can be spared from the same fate - of being bored, paranoid, stuck up little twats who victimise people for the sheer hell of it. If Jon was the asshole some of you try and make him out to be, the others would've jumped ship long ago. They're loaded. They're not in it for the cash. You have absolutely no case against Jon, only your severly biased and skewed interpretation of his speech. Please show me a single shred of evidence that Jon would've blocked the guys from speaking, or from not getting him to say the things they want him to say. Notice he did say "our kids" and named them all? But lemme guess, that was just a fluke right, or he did that as a clever cover up... or... hell, I can't come up with anything good because I'm not like you guys.

Bon Jovi is, as he put it, "my dream". He started it. He got the contract. He organised the band. The others have all helped the magic come together unquestionably, Richie especially. But Jon was the catalyst. Without him, some of these guys would probably have never met. This is not something he has specifically said. It is cold hard fact, so if you take offence to him saying things like "my dream" and "allow me to do what I want when I want" then it only shows how utterly clueless you are. Richie and the boys are free to do whatever they want, but Jon decides ultimately when it's time for Bon Jovi to do something because without him there is no band.

Grow up the **** up and learn to do something more constructive, like jumping off tall buildings and saving the rest of the world the pain of your existance.

I think we need a group of scientists to work out how

My final comments were meant address the whole stupid situation on this board where a small but, alas, vocal and significant number of jackasses who take everything Jon says and does and tries to make him look like an asshole. The classic (and the one that started me posting) was Seb's claim Jon was disrespecting Richie by turning away from him as he sang Stranger. Ever since then, I've been subconsciously looking for the same behaviour in other bands, and guess what Seb you flaming retard, NEARLY EVERY BAND DOES IT, to one degree or another. Anytime someone new takes the front mic for a song, the others back off. Any time the lead guitarist starts a solo, the others back off. It's not about disrespect, the polar opposite in fact. Giving their friend time in the spotlight.

That was the worst example I can remember seeing, but you don't need to watch this board long to find others. It's stupid, pointless and nauseating.

Another one of these "I-take-everything-I-read-on-the-Internet-seriously"-kind of types.

Not nearly as "stupid, pointless and nauseating" as reading these posts. If you don't like it, then why are you here?
