Apart from the reasons stated by other people, I also think there comes a time sometimes when you *need* to make your politicals views clear in the light of some situations, etc. I don't know if things had been different (i.e. no Bush) Jon would have been so outspoken about his political views.

Does anyone else see the irony in this?
Not really because that was 18 years ago, and people change.

but still i find it ironic that he made such a comment... wouldnt you agree that if he felt strongly at the time then he wouldnt change his views?
I disagree...changing opinions and views about things is a sign of maturing and having a brain. Only people who doesnt think and question things , have the same opinion throughout their lives.

I think you have a very valid point here.

While I understand the point made about age being a factor, and to a point I am sure that is a contributing factor, Jon wasn't sooo much younger 10 years ago (or so much less mature), though I don't think he was as politically involved/outspoken 10 years ago as he is today.

Yes, there is a slew of musicians that have voiced their political concerns, but it was not only reflected in outright movements, it was also reflected in the artists lyrics. Not something BJ has ever been associated with.

As other people have said, it's just a matter of values and opinions changing. And everybody has a right to support whatever political party that they want to, so why should this be different if you happen to be in the public eye?
