Default Jon's Voice: Crush --> Bounce

After hearing some of the new songs from Bounce, I have the impression that Jon's voice has improved (quite a bit) after Crush. It seems a bit more powerful, and also smoother...I don't know if it really has but thats what it seems like to me. I was wondering, did anybody else notice that?

i noticed that too- but i think that's because the songs are way different... on crush there were more pop songs and slow songs- bounce is more rock- you can't sing siis or cpt crash the way you sing bounce or undivided- bounce is far more aggressive- but i'm glad the way it is!!

Default Yeah but...

...compare the ballads too. I just heard Open All Night, Misunderstood, and You Had Me From Hello so I can't be 100% sure of what I'm saying, but his voice on those songs is better than on...say...Mystery Train, Thank You For Loving Me or She's A Mystery...
Maybe it's just my imagination though.
I'm really happy about how the album seems to turn out too!

you are right- maybe that's one reason why i dislike crush- there's nothing in jon's voice and richie has quite weak guitar sounds (actually i dislike crush because of the powerless sounds of all of the band)
i think they've improved their sounds extremely- thou8gh i can't tell you for sure for i haven't heard the bounce songs in a proper quality but jon sings more aggressive and i think there's no need to say something about richie's guitar sounds- cause his new guitar sounds GREAT!!!!

I have to say I haven't heard Bounce yet, but Jons voice sounded great at the Capital FM gig.

Actually, I thought Jon's voice sounded brilliant on Crush. But yes, it does sound better on Bounce.

Where do you get that there are pop songs on Crush? Just because some songs are mid tempo and not that heavy? Be a little more open-minded...They're a rock band not a pop band!

I think Jon was just a little more tired on Crush, but it still came out great. With Bounce, he had the Crush tour, OWN tour, and other events to back him...as...Jon's voice improves as the show goes on.

It's an interesting subject, really. I think one of the key elements to why Jons vocal abilities sound "better" on this album is because the songs are different. Maybe it was (for Jon) just the feeling that he can't sing like he did on KTF or TD, and also with the album DA in the back pocket when making a new band album. Many influences came from what at first was supposed to be Jons 3rd solo, and that was far less agressive than BJ albums are.
I know that I would doubt my own potential a little if I had both grown older and not made an album with a band for five years. But now, with an album and a tour that lasted quite some time, at least I would be a lot more comfortable in my shoes. And I think the band is in the same state, comfortable and more secure in what they do. This album is going to sound much better than everything we've heard these past years, no doubts!

Yeah I guess you're right...maybe those years off after the These Days album were the reason. Can't wait till Bounce, I pre-ordered it today by the way!

i was very angry when i heard crush- they had a 5 years break, wrote 60 songs, worked quite a long time- that made me overrate the album in previous! i loved 2 story town when they performed it at the webcast but it's extremely weak on the record- crush doesn't work as a whole in my oppinion- but it's a matter of taste!
some of the songs are great but they are weakly arranged (two story town- the drumcomp making horse sounds, the keyboard sounds on thank you for loving me, the sounds of the drums and the guitar on save the world which i actually consider one of bj's best ballads- but i don't like the sounds)
i haven't heard the "sounds" of bounce because of the rather bad quality of the mp3's but i think they've improved a lot esp. because of richie's new one!!!
so i'm looking damn forward to the day i get my copy!

well, as a singer I must say Jon´s voice hasn´t changed anything from Crush to Bounce. The only thing that we can notice now is that in Bounce songs he has to use more agressive vocals at times, just that.
