As everyone should realise, yeah Jons voice isn't what it used to be at all, but I still think its ''passable'' live, as the voice is only one of several components of a good live show experiance. On record (with the advantage of numerous takes in the studio etc) his voice is still very good (HAND the song for example has a great vocal with Jon's voice having some real grit to it...shame its always lost on the live version)
That video that was posted from MK last year of These Days is ok, expect for the odd high note, but I don't let this detract from the whole song and the general concert experiance for me. Its easy to over-analyze a gig, expecially afterwards by scruitinizing bootlegs and youtube videos, but I bet very few people would think ''Oh, Jons voice has killed BJ'' - sure he chickens out on high notes here and there, and strains at the odd high note but I dont really care, its a given fact of a live performance.
I know, having seen acts such as Aerosmith, Queen with Paul Rodgers, U2 and Maiden all within the last couple of years that there are far better live vocalists out there of similar age to Jon. But I guess theres still something I dig hearing JBJs voice singing my favourite songs, and unless he actually truely begins to loose the voice, then I'm not too worried as I know the live shows are always good.
EDIT:
Check out this - this is someone who has well and truely lost it in the vocal department, and this is taken from the new official live DVD from the last tour. Makes me sad, as I'm a huge Meat Loaf fan, but I can admit that his voice is totally shot nowadays.
At least Jon can still sing in time to the music.....!
