EDIT:
Check out this - this is someone who has well and truely lost it in the vocal department, and this is taken from the new official live DVD from the last tour. Makes me sad, as I'm a huge Meat Loaf fan, but I can admit that his voice is totally shot nowadays. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiDZAlAqkrw
At least Jon can still sing in time to the music.....!

i hope they had an ambulance on standby because he looks like he could drop dead at any point

Are you kiddin' me? What sort of comment is that. So now I am not allowed to say that the food I ate sucked because, personally, I am not able to cook anything at all? That's one of the most retarded comments I've ever read. i guess that's how people in North Korea think.

Besides, you don't even have to look far to see MUCH MUCH better performances. Actually, they happen during the same shows on the same stages with the same band...just the guitar player taking over.

I say just replace Jon all together with a better singer.

Absolutely! I wish that happens as soon as possible. Maybe Richie going solo would be the best idea!

There's much more than just Jon's voice that is killing (or has killed, imo) Bon Jovi. But about the voice specifically, they're stuck in a vicious circle. They write less demanding songs, so Jon trains less, so he regresses, so they write less demanding song and adapt the old ones, etc and so on.

Now about why this is happening, I've got my own theory on the origin of it all and that is that since Jon picked up acting in movies he started believing he could use this "talent" in his song and stage acts for the better, backing it up with the "we're story tellers" argument. Bullshit. He was wrong. It works more or less in the studio but it's totally useless live when you're playing stadiums and arenas. No wonder most of the 2000+ songs do not work live as well as older ones.

And as long as they keep selling, they won't go back.

That's absolutely true, there is a huge lack of energy in the songs and I don't mean Jon running around.
Even 5 teletubbbies extra isn't making up for that.

Versions of Bad name/Prayer/Wanted/Medicine during NJ tour when Jon's voice was totally to waste still are a lot better then any version of those songs nowadays...... it isn't just Jon

Don't you think if Richie thought he could be successful as a solo artist or even the front man of his own band that he would have done that by now.

So you're saying Richie is only after success?

I don't think that's how Richie thinks. Otherwise he'd never have released a second solo album.

Sure with Richie on front the fanbase wouldn't be so big, about 80% of the ass-fans would be gone.

Doesn't automatically mean that wich Richie as frontman the band would've been a lot more rock, rough & cool. I'm sure it would've been.

With Jon of nowadays, Richie is soo much better, as a musician, guitarist, singer and even as a entertainer cause even Richie can shake his ass....

Jon can stay on though, as 6th and last bandmember as background singer. in that way the fanbase wouldn't be that much smaller, Jon would still shake his ass....

One of the most sensible posts in this entire thread - and I think you hit the nail on the head.

Oh no, I don't think that is only thing that drives him by any means but even from way back he seems to be the one more focused on "hits" when it comes to Bon Jovi songs.

Where did that idea come from?
