Aloha !

Crush tour had pretty wank vocals, it was only in late 2000 that his vocals started to pick up where he left them at the end of the 1996 tour. During the Crush Tour it often looked like had forgotten how to sing and used a different technique as well that held him back very often.

That version of STBI you posted is great, Jon gave all he had. He doesn't play it safe but attempts at nailing the song. Sure, he fails a few times, but he nails it a few times as well. They played the song the night before as well which was a lot worse. It just showed that if Jon really went for it he could do it. It just took him a little more practice and he recoves quite well near the end of the highest part of the vocals. He sounds a lot closer like the 1995 version than he did back in 1996 where there was no rasp at all. Had he done the song live on roughly every 3 shows I'm sure he'd been capable of nailing it near the end of the tour. These tours mostly had average vocals due to the lack of motivation coming from Jon. And the One Wild Night Tour and the North American leg of the Bounce tour were also the last tours where he could nail Keep The Faith.

The Lost Highway tour had great vocals, but only on approximately 3 songs per night. Raise Your Hands, Bad Name, Bad Medicine all sounded a lot weaker compared to 2001, not to mention Prayer and Wild In The Streets. So yeah, it's Crush/One Wild Night for me.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Thanks Seb, that's an interesting analysis.

Ummmmm, okay. I will refrain from disowning you.

You have to be careful though, if you had agreed with him one more time you would have received a personalised Clog through the post. There would be no going back.

I've kind of been moping around, noticing things. Like the fact Thierry and Supersonic always post the exact same comment but worded differently.
