Yeah that's true, but one exception is Steven Tyler. Man that guy can sing as good as if he were 20, maybe even better.
He's an exception that's not normal.
Maybe if we could only figure out where that mouth has been we could maybe get the secret.

Actually, after watching him perform during the Super Bowl, I would beg to differ. He sounded awful. We were all surprised at just how out of tune he was.

I don't agree about the "age-hypothesis" because if it would be the reason, why richie sambora (he is older than jon) is getting better and better with his voice and could take the high notes better than ever?

Yeah, but Richie has always had a biiig, strong voice wheras Jon has always strained his. I think athat's the difference

It's hard to tell with richie .. as for steven tyler he has to be an exception, i don't recall how well he did during the superbowl performance but i've heard other live recordings of him recently and his voice is still amazing, and he's 56yrs old.

He is older, didn't use his voice they way he should in the 80ies, so now he can't reach the higer notes.

Steven Tyler hasn't lost his voice but I think that's not very right to compare Jon with him...I mean, ST screams more than sings, while Jon used to do both They have different styles.
P.S. I see people are talking about Richie here, that he still has a strong voice. Well, I think that we have to remember that Richie did sing so much as Jon did during all of these years.

CALYX WROTE:

has his voice weakened since Bounce though?

I mean he may have sounded a bit off towards the end of the tour but do you think it had improved by the time they recorded TLFR or made the DVD?

I think its hard to tell cause he sings differently on that album but he still sounds good on songs like Joey and Last man Standing.

To me though, vocals arn't all that important.. I mean they are, but I'd prefer good music and weaker vocals than average music with good vocals.

it's only down-tuned if it's played lower live than the original version. how can a studio album be tuned down?

You should only listen the original songs from the original records and check the difference on the tune. There are a few songs that keep the original tune like "wanted", "prayer", "bad medicine" but the rest of the songs are tuned down.

Because Jon's voice is a shit

PD: By the way, you better pray for the new jon's film hasn't excessive shouting scenes, because then could start the completely lose of jon's voice.

Adeu Cha!
