This may be the one you were talking about!? It was posted a little while ago in the yt thread. This from october 1998. Not a Jon solo performance, but the whole band. Almost exactly 18 months later they did the storyteller thing and all of a sudden Jon sounded really bad. Does age really do that to you within such a short period of time?
No that's not it.
It was a performance that didn't have any members of the band, not even members of the Big Dogs if I remember correctly.
It may have been in London as part of a multiact bill but I'm not sure.
Awesome performance still BTW.

BON JOVI have always been referred to as "the hardest working band" when it comes to touring, so i personally think that its taken its toll on his voice. Just think how huge the slippery and NJ tours were, wasnt he pumped full of steroids to keep him going, around the time of the DONNINGTON..............

Jon does, in general, hit the notes is that one, but you can see that he's struggling to sing the high notes. I don't think his voice went bad during a year, but it's a steady process. Comparing the Evening With to newer performances of KTF-material, it's painfully obvious how much range he's lost.

Seeing a quality video/sound concert like the last Tokyo show, it's painfully to listen almost every song ! The voice is so weak that sometimes gives the impression that he will not survive to the song.

I have never understood what happened in 1999. His voice has steadily got a lot worse since 2000, but the big downfall was in '99, a year when there were no concerts by Jon whatsoever.
So if it got worse since 99 how did he pull this version of Always off in 2001.

I agree that Tokyo was particularly bad but it isnt fair to judge his voice on those perfomances. However he couldnt hit these 01 notes now.

Its strange how quick he has lost his vocals
