I have to say, watching that KTF vid he appears to me like he is most definitely struggling for breath. Perhaps there is some truth to the effects of his smoking on his voice...?

I share your opinion. He is totally out of breath. He should stop smoking pretty quickly if he wants to save his vocalchords.

He does sound really nasal too.

Aloha !

People who say he's still got an awesome range obviously never listened to singers that actually do have an awesome range, but then again, if they're impressed if Jon delivers a good vocal of Make A Memory, they're not that hard to please. That song is easy to sing, and even the note in the end is simply, yet Jon has failed on that one too during concerts, simply because he was out of breath.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Thought Jon sounded pretty good in Perth, despite the poor acoustics of Subiaco Oval. He did start to struggle with the key change in Prayer though, and when they came back for the encore, the Last Night sounded a bit coarse and weary. But after that they played Wanted which sounded fine. But I do wish he'd quit smoking, for general health reasons on top of just saving his voice. (How does he keep his teeth so white? lol)

Maybe he cleans his teeth with acid instead of toothpaste.

It's not just for his health that he should quit smoking though. It seems kinda selfish but I bet concert duration will start to suffer because of him getting out of breath and struggling to maintain his voice from gig to gig.

He does need to quit smoking to save his vocals, its obvious.
Even cutting down still wouldn't do much for him i don't think.
I don't think his voice is going to be what it used to be!

Of course not, those days are over. But hopefully he can perform a little better than what he's doing right now.
Otherwise I agree with most of your opinions. He's not a great singer anymore, he's... okey. You know, decent. But as Seb is saying, his range is NOT impressive by any means. It's quite mediocre actually.

Hmm.... i still think he can belt out songs though, i mean the length he holds that note for "Make a memory" i think is great IMO.
I just wish he didn't start smoking
