you joined this board in 2007. I have joined here in 2002. Let me tell you what was going on here until 2007:

~2002 we bashed Bon Jovi for the shit record Bounce was (and how they lied to us saying it will be a big rock record)
~2003 we trashed Jon for sounding like SHIT on the Bounce tour, for the predictable setlists, and for the lack of enthusiasm
~2003/2004 we were all amazed how on Earth Bon Jovi could butcher their own songs the way they did with TLFR
~2004 some were happy and others were IMPRESSED with the box set. We kind of all agreed that it's the most amazing thing Bon Jovi have put out this decade.
~2005 this board was split between people liking and people disliking "another big loud rock record" Have a Nice Day
~2006 BON JOVI were kicking ass live all throughout Europe, Jon sounding like he could sing again bringing out songs that we had never hoped to hear live again. Dry County for example in that amazing Düsseldorf concert.

Then you joined. If anything has changed, it's the quality of the posts, the number of political, social, or artistic debates - but not the attitude towards Bon Jovi. This has always been a critical board. Now, after Bon Jovi have let people here down so many times, after they deceived us by calling pop songs "big loud rock records", after singing at least one song about "living your life" on every god damn record which they put out since It's My Life became a hit, after failing to play ONE SINGLE decent new solo, and after being fed with the same lame cliches in interviews, live, and on TV - I guess we have the right to have preconceived notions about what the record will sound like. And see the good part, the only way Bon Jovi could surprize us is by actually putting out a decent record...imagine the adulation the band will recieve then. It'll probably make you really happy!

Default What do you want?

I've been reading posts on Drycounty for a couple of days before deciding to join. I heard Bad Medicine on the radio back in 1987 and have been a Bon Jovi fan ever since, had to go out and buy New Jersey, then SWW, 7800, and eventually Bon Jovi. Guess what? I hated KTF and These Days when they came out. Bon Jovi just sounded different, I guess I was expecting Bad Medicine 2. Now, I love a lot of the songs from the 90s... Dry County, These Days, Something to believe in, Hey God. As far as lyrics, song arrangements (change in tempo, guitar solos etc) and originality are concerned, that was the band's best time so far. IML sounded great at the time, but yes, they have been using the theme and lyrics from this song over and over again ever since. Starting with Crush, it's almost like there is a set of 200 words or so that can be combined in a number of ways to create new lyrics. Oh, and make sure that the song is not longer than 4 minutes and follows the same pattern. The songs have become so... predictable. WWBTF is not a bad song and reminding us to stop complaining is fine with me, but I know Bon Jovi can make this a more powerful song. They have nothing to prove anymore concerning commercial success, so why not record an album you want to make instead of making radio-friendliness top priority (I guess I am naive). Again, I am not judging The Circle before it comes out, but a few songs that will stand the test of time (as in years) is overdue.

I agree with Florin here (thats twice in about 5 minutes ), this board has always been a healthy and diverse mixture of those who are habitually critical of the new Jovi stuff, those who are habitually optimistic, and those somewhere inbetween. The trouble only happens when someone from one of those camps can't accept the view of the other camps

All the bashing got us a proper solo supposedly in WWBTF and even though it won't likely save the song, at least Richie now understands we want proper solos.

Exactly!!. It wasn't gratuitous bashing either, it was a specific complaint about the lack of a guitar solo. Sometimes if you don't ask - you don't get.

The only thing is that now Jon will say it in every interview he will ever do from now on ,I can hear it now-"ya sure,we always listen to our fans even on this record we heard some of them didnt like the guitar on wwbtf so I got Richie to go and redo it"

Now wouldnt it be cool if we could get snippets of other tracks and tell them what we think so they can re-do them too .

Yes a "Huge" Guitar solo at an elotted time of roughly 12 seconds. Sure won't make the song any better unless they added a bridge as someone else has said. The song is just too dull. Bring on the rest of the album already! I'm one of the fans who believe that the days of Richie's 20-25 second solo's are gone(obviously) but I can live with it.
