This argument's getting ridiculous now, but a couple of points:

Bono's voice versus Jon's: I listen to A LOT of live music, and have a lot of Jovi and a considerable amount of U2 as well. I can tell you that even in his bad stages around 2003 Jon can hit high notes better than Bono and sing with more power. From the LH tour, quite simply, he blows Bono out of the water.

The Edge versus Richie: The edge does have a very distinct sound, but it's also an unchanging one, that doesn't sound very different from one song to the next. Richie can pull off a variety of different techniques, and his solos (when he does them these days, which is unfortunately very rarely) are pure majesty. Plus Richie can get behind the mic and sing his little heart out, and write his own pretty good songs as well.

Of course, I'm writing this from a Jovi fan's standpoint, but that's what I am. I've listened to enough U2 songs to know what's good and bad (Kite is actually my favourite song right now - I think it's great - but then they release something like Get On Your Boots which is quite frankly more ridiculous than anything Jovi has ever done.)

U2's songs can be pretty deep, but this is inspired by where U2 come from and the problems there, their best ones generally were written quite some time ago.

I do agree with one point though, Bon Jovi are the biggest bar band in the world, but that's what rock'n'roll is all about, and I don't think they've been pretentious enough to pretend they're anything more. They'll never be adored by the critics like U2 are, but that's just fine. They don't need it. Let U2 save the world, Bon Jovi can rock the house.

For me, as I said in my previous thread, it comes down to the live show. I'll let you know then who's the best damn live band in the world, but I've got a feeling I already know the answer.

I just summed up pretty well what was wrong about your post, but here it goes:

a) Have A Nice Day not being a hit is not a fact and an incorrect detail.

b) Who's voice is better is not a matter of opinion when a singer can't reach the notes he used the able to hit. Jon can still hit it while Bono simply can't.

c) Comparing Metallica's, Eagles' and Springsteen's stadium tours to the ones from Bon Jovi is comparing apples to oranges which makes it the third incorrect fact.

Well done.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

A) A hit is a song that does well on a large scale, HAND went unnoticed in the UK and Ireland (The 2nd biggest market in the world)

B) Bollocks, watch Jon sing Always in 1995 and watch him sing it in 2009. A completely different vocal. We won't mention 2000-2007 when his voice was ruined.

C) They're all rock bands and comparing them is perfectly valid

So there you go, you look like a fool yet again

Sure, he sounds different, but that doesn't mean he sounds any worse.

Sorry dude....I haven't always seen eye to eye with Seb, but judging from what I've read from you thus far, I'd say it's safe to say he's forgot more about music than you'll ever know.

The vocals were different but they certainly weren't worse. His voice was very bad in 2003, and maybe even worse to a degree in some stages in 2007. Jon then focused on his vocals and came back in 2008 with a great voice, probably his best vocals since Destination Anywhere.

Don't be sorry, I don't intend to take anything you say seriously. And again, please back up these claims or admit that you're a tit.
