Hmmm....who takes Bon Jovi seriously?

The UK Rock N Roll of Fame. The World Music Awards (lifetime achievement award). The Songwriters Hall of Fame. They've played in front of 2 Presidents of the US. They performed in front of the Queen of England. Jon spoke to the graduating class of Oxford a few years back. They peformed at every single post 9/11 show. They played at the Olympics twice. They played at Live 8. They played at the Al Gore Global Warming Show.

Bon Jovi plays the same stadiums U2 plays and sells them out too.

Both bands are on equal success territory. The only difference between the 2 is Bon Jovi has done it without critics help.

Don't forget being the biggest band in the world 1986-1990.

Don't forget having the biggest tour in the world 2007-2008.

Don't forget having a tour in the top 3 in 2003, 2005-2006.

Don't forget having the worldwide #1 album of the year in 2000.

Shall I go on?

Yes please, it makes him look very daft when all this has been pointed out.

Why would you say that on a Jovi forum... and as for U2, i think, or thought they were fantastic, pre achtung baby. They lost their credibility in the 90s with Pop and Zooropa when Jovi were at their peak.

Bon Jovi sell out the biggest stadiums and play them twice or more too.

I also dont know where you get your figures from but No Line on the Horizon has not sold 4m worldwide, no way in that time. And if it did, alot of shops will deal with refunds.

Who takes songs like Get on Your Boots seriously. U2 can't write good rock anymore because they exhausted their capabilities over 20 years ago. All thats kept them in the lime light is Beautiful Day, and Jesus. Sorry. Bono.

No, see theres where you are wrong. U2 didnt take a chance, with changing to the alternative-dance style of the 90s. They had to, because theyd written all they could write when it comes to rock. Theyre not the usual rock band because they can't write a decent piece of rock. The flash of inspiration that hit them in the 80s from writing songs like Bad, to Bullet the Blue Sky has long gone. Bon Jovi survived when the times were changing in the 90s.

And look at the difference, bon jovi sold out wembley, as an example, for several nights in 1995 and on the basis of their tight musicianship and showmanship, thats all they needed to keep 80 000 fans on their toes. There was minimal use of grand stage design, all that was used were a couple of screens a some blow up figures, as the music was plenty sufficient.

Now lets look at U2. If it was not for U2s grand use of effects, lighting, and big stage mechanisms, their reputation would be in tatters. What have they got this time round... "The claw", as impressive as it is, thats what they need to keep their live shows entertaining, as they know themselves, the music isnt enough, and they are shoddy performers these days. Far cry from 1987... Its more like a pop show orchestration, devices someone like Madonna would use.

Y'know, right on top of this page there's an advert by Viagogo for the U2 tour

I must admit, I had a lil chuckle to myself. Although, mainly because of Bono's stupid glasses.

Yeah, I agree Paul. That is Born To Run.

We should all just stick him onto our ignore lists.

It really works, I put Lee-Ann on there once and I haven't seen her since.
