If it was merchandise on the BJ store or something, I wouldn't think there was a fair price for it as that's always a rip-off and would never buy anything from there.

However as Gav is a mate and it's artwork done with some integrity about a subject the artist loves - I'm sure whatever price he's charging for it is fair.

Long gone are the days I'd buy anything just because it had Bon Jovi on it. In fact, I've never really done that unless it means something to me (like my signed Blaze Of Glory lyrics sheet for example.)

The prices I charge for all of my professionally produced prints are as follows for anybody who's interested.

A5 - £2.50
A4 - £4.00
A3 - £8.00

All prices include free delivery for UK-based orders.

Thanks for the reply, but that's not really what I meant. I can draw pretty much anything, and plenty of car fanatics would love a drawing of their own car.

Now it takes me at least 3 hours of work to finish a drawing on A3. If I was to ask 10E an hour, it'd mean 30E + Material = roughly 35 to 40E which I say is a reasonable price. Is anyone willing to pay 40E for a drawing of their car? No, not really, but anything below means doing it for below minimum wage, really.

I very often hear "You should sell your drawings!" but for some reason people seem to think that 15E is a fair price, because a poster in a poster store costs about the same. It doesn't work that way for me, hence me asking what you'd be willing to spend.

This is a big reason why my commissioned work makes up little of my workload in comparison to my prints Seb. The original piece cost the customer much more than the prices I am charging for prints, albeit she got a 25% discount for allowing me to use the image for prints afterwards. Had she not commissioned the piece in the first place, the drawing would never have been done and the prints would obviously not be available.

I don't think some people do realise how much time and effort goes into producing artwork, which is why I'd probably say in the region of 70% of all enquiries I get for quotes never end up in a commission. When people expect you to put together an A3 drawing of their three kids for £10, they're wasting their own time as well as mine by even enquiring. It's very easy to become frustrated with how little value some people place in artistic talent but that's the challenge that needs to be overcome if you want to succeed at doing something you love.

Prints are nice and cheap in comparison to buying an original though.
