Just Older verses Just Older

Some of us comment about the new songs in regards to what they'd sound like if Jon sang them with his younger voice.

Here's a pretty good example of a live version of Just Older from 1998

Compared to a more polished live Crush version just two years later.

What a difference these two years make. Not that Jon sings it bad in 2000 but it's that vocal passion he once had that could turn water into wine.

I was actually never a big fan of this song from day 1 but this '98 version is so enjoyable in my opinion. The lyrics are altered a little but it's Jon's vocal delivery that makes this version for me.

Another quick note: Some reports have this version titled as "Older" but Jon calls it Just Older dating back to May 5, 1998... so Just Older might have been the correct titles all along.

Same goes for Hush from the same show.

You're absolutely right! Look at 0:45 at the 98 version of Hush, Jon was really singing with passion compared to the album version where he sounds bored and sings like he's just doing his chores.

Hey, I was at this show, being 15 at the time. Great memories! And I remember being pumped after hearing those two "new" songs. I've always been a fan of "Just Older", especially from 2000-2003, where Jon performed with passion and energy. Loved the second verse where he and Richie would get together at one mic.
