Like I said I liked Bon Jovi forever so I feel that I can honestly say what I'm saying.

Yes I have listened to their extensive catalog of music from Slippery to 100,000,000 Fans Can't be Wrong and been to shows.. I have also caught RS live and have his CD's.

I only threw out RHCP as an example--not trying to sway the masses but just share my perspective and view. Jon and Richie are good songwriters but after listening to them for let's see....20 years...It's a repeat and I got bored a long time ago. Anyhow my essentials are Hendrix, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin so it only makes sense that I'd have this point of view. To me, BJ is stress relief and fun music with some ballads thrown in but being 32, I find it's harder to get excited and blown away.

For that one poster.....John blows Richie away and if you'd gone to any show, you'd see he plays from a very soulful, artistic place. Both are talented but Richie could never play and leave me feeling like I left the planet and was at one with everything in the universe yet completely detached at the same time. Now that's awesome!!

WHAT? SORRY WHAT? You can't tell me that Frusciante blows anyone away. He might be an entertainer but he is AT MOST a mediocre guitarplayer. I wouldn't put him even close to Sambora. For saying this, you lose any sort of credibility cause only a HARDCORE Chilli Peppers fan would say that. If this is the only tour you've seen Sambora you might have got to see a crappy day. On most of the European shows he was NOT in top-form, I would agree with that.

What about the rest of the bands? Anthony Kiedis sounds absolutely horrible live. He might be a fun guy to watch but he has more trouble hitting the right notes than Jon ever had. Flea is great though, I must say. Beside, a Bon Jovi show is on average one hour longer than a Peppers show.

In any case...I am still shocked that someone can think that the guy in RHCP is better than SAMBORA.That is hilarious really. And you want to teach me what "good" and what "bad" music is? That's pathetic!

I saw RHCP last night in concert. Personally, I think they're a great live band and fun to watch.

First of all, Flea is the best musician in RHCP.

Oh and John Frusiante is a medicore guitarist but he has his moments. He is not a better guitarist than Richie Sambora.

And now that I think about it, what's you purpose for posting this anyway?

I can say exactly the same but the other way around. No other guitar player (with the exeption of early Steve Vai and partially Clapton) gives me the feeling that Sambora gives me. He can play from fast and agressive to slow and soulful and all in the same song. He's a genius! Now I have seen ONE RHCP concert - which wasn't even sold out and reall far from being great although kind of funny- I have been listening occasionally to the band on CD(although I have no idea what albums he plays on and on which Navarro and on which Slovak) but hell, not ever would i have even though of putting any of the Peppers guitar work anywhere near Sambora's. I bet if I went on a RHCP forum saying that SAMBORA is a better GUITARIST/musician that Frusciante, there would be more people agreeing with me than disagreeing.
Ahh...I am getting pissed way too easy...I need to calm down...
SAMBORA!

Yea, that is my biggest problem with RHCP live. Anthony does just not sound good. A lot of times he's not even singing on key. I love Flea though. I like them a lot but a lot of the songs do seem to blend together and sound very similar.

SAMBORA!
I agree Sambora's multi-ranges of style doesn't even compare to Frusciante's one style (although is best guitar work was on Stadium Arcadium --it stands out. The earlier stuff tends to be meshed together.) But John blowing Richie away is just silly and ridiculous to even think about.

ooohh opinions, Bon Jovi is my favorite band.
Why?
Because I like them the most out of all the bands I listen to.
Do I listen to a lot of diferent kinds of music?
Yes, from all kinds of rock, and yes I'm talking diferent styles from power metal to pop/rock to clasic rock to heavy metal, I eve listen to brit pop, latin jazz and when I'm trying to study and relax I listen to instrumental music, mostly clasical.
Why does Bon Jovi keep on being my favorite even after having Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AFI, Nuirvana and pearl jam,RHCP all who the alot of people consider being "better" than Bon Jovi?
Because I want to and obviously I get something out of the music, and to me that's really the most important thing.
Where you found fluff and music to relax to I found the songs that helped shape my life.

Opinions, deal with it.

Well I'm glad to see you're all supporting Richie--like I said, I admired him for years--even met him and he's a very nice, cool, laid-back person which I enjoyed. But even Richie would give credit where it's due and I think he'd agree with me in this instance. Maybe saying the other guy blows him away is too extreme for a message board obviously devoted to Bon Jovi.

Still, I said that because after following RS for so long and waiting for him to put out what he's capable of (he does have it in him) I'm constantly let down that he'd rather keep plugging in to the machinery vs. being the true artist he is and doing his own thing.

I love JBJ and Bon Jovi--but since Richie is gifted in his own right more than those songs can showcase, don't you think it's sad that we only hear trickles from his well of greatness???

Be honest. I can admire someone but the truth is the truth.

It had nothing to do with his playing this year. I gave him props for doing all those shows when he had all that drama happening in his private life. He has a great voice (better than Jon's in my opinion) and writes very beautiful melodies. If only he'd break away and do something totally different, unexpected, and true to his soul.....

By the way JF is a brilliant guitarist--anyone who loves guitar could tell you that.

Have a nice day! My intention was just to discuss--not ruffle any feathers but if I have--oh well--can't please the world!

You do realize that Richie broke his shoulder after the Vegas show in March 2006 right? So, just even getting out there and playing at all this tour was quite the challenge and then compounded with the personal stuff I'd say the guy did very well just showing up at all.
