Live for me - but then I prefer most studio stuff live. I've heard some incredible live versions and some that were a mess (missed cues - timing shot to hell etc). As Jim says - they have to be ON in order to pull it off superbly - but when they do - it's sublime (and worth the effort).

A half assed live version is almost worse than not playing it at all though.

It's a much better live song. How it's mixed on the album, you really don't hear the distinctions in Richie's guitar, and the song's just a little too 'airy' for me. Gotta prefer it live, by far. Outro solo>>>>>>>>>fadeout

KTF is probably my second favourite song after Blaze (so if you count that as just a Jon song, then KTF is my fave band song)

I love both versions, but like most Jovi songs, live will do it for me every time.

But like Jim said, the whole band have to be right into it or it doesn't work.

On the LH tour I found it to be quiet flat for the first time - it's always been one of the highlights of the live shows for me.

The OWN version is awesome - probably the best track on there - I do like the Live From London one as well. Also from the Evening With sessions - that's great. In facxt, there's just so many great versions of this - which why I was a bit dissapointed with it on the LH tour.

But then, I think they played Blaze the best I've ever heard - so swings and roundabouts...lol

I think KTF was still good on the LH tour. It was the best i've heard it for ages at Manchester. I love the way Richie runs across the stage aswell

At Glasgow and Twickenham it just didn't do it for me this tour - that and Wanted, for some reason as well.

KTF is an awesome stadium rocker. I definitely prefer it live, like the majority of the songs.
This track went through some changes and each version from every time period has something I love. See:
1993 - Richie's guitar noises for the intro, after that Jon joins with rumbas and then he starts the incredible bass line with counting - really cool

1995 - the intro is gone with Alec but the song itself is played better. As a great example I can choose the Wembley's version. To be honest - that's the first live performance of Bon Jovi I have seen - when I bought the remastered edition od KTF back in 2001. Richie's solos are powerful, Jon's vocals are incredible - this is an example how I imagine a rock band!

2000 - Jon's vocals were worse than before but a little piece od Sympathy For The Devil was used during some performances (this idea came up during DA tour). Another plus in this time was that they were ending the shows with KTF - band introduction (at least Richie's) etc.

2001 - vocals a bit better, Sympathy stays. Open air shows had nice fireworks with every "Faith" shouted during the shows. Empire state bulding was exploding

2003 - Big boom version !!! The last feature added to KTF, few times it was played together with Sympathy as well, but no fireworks.

After that, KTF even disapperead from the set list for many shows on HaND tour and when it was played it wasn't anything spectacular. On LH tour it was a stable piece of setlist. As good thing I can only count Richie going wireless and running on the stage for the solos.

That's my little analysis. Nothing can beat the live versions. Just because the one lack the guitar outro.

It's jungle out there mama !!! Watch you back, I'll watch mine

Keep The Faith is (usually) fantastic live! As already been said, when they are all "on the ball" it's terrific. The energy, the...yeah, love it. I love the studio version too though. I just think this song is one of the best in general. Brilliant song. But, if I was pushed to make a decision I'd pick live.
