Interesting way to compare. Let me try that:

I Believe/HAND - I Believe is one of my favorite BJ songs, so I'll go with that.
Faith/I Wanna Be Loved - Faith.
Sleep/Welcome - Never care much for Sleep so I"ll go with Welcome.
In These Arms/Who Says - In These Arms
Bed Of Roses/LMS - Bed Of Roses
Mother/Bells - Mother
Dry County/Wildflower - Dry County
Woman In Love/OLC - OLC
Fear/I Am - I Am
I Want You/Complicated - Complicated
Blame It/Novocaine - Novocaine
LBS/Story - Story.

So, for me it's split right down the middle. However, I will say this - The songs that I prefer on HAND, I MUCH prefer. The songs I prefer on KTF, it's pretty close on the 1st and 2nd. So, from that respect, I'd say I prefer HAND myself.

Intersting approach.

I Believe/HAND -Christ this is tough but just, JUST "I Believe"
Faith/I Wanna Be Loved - "FAITH"
Sleep/Welcome - "Welcome"
In These Arms/Who Says.. - "In These Arms"
Bed Of Roses/Last Man Standing - "Last Man Standing"
Mother/Freedom - "Bells Of Freedom"
Dry County/Wildflower - "Dry County" (Ok hands up who thought I'd pick Wildflower?)
Woman In Love/Last Cigarette - "Last Cigarette"
Fear/I Am - "I Am"
I Want You/Complicated - "Complicated"
Rock and Roll/Novocaine - "Novocaine"
Soul/Story - "Little Bit of Soul"

There you go, for me, song for song "Have a Nice Day" is a better album and slightly more consistent. "Keep The Faith" is incredible and the difference in preference between both albums for me is so ridiculously marginal that it's not really necessary to compare.

Keep The Faith, These Days and Have a Nice Day are easily the three best albums Bon Jovi have made, IMHO, and as I said, there's no real tangible difference in quality. They're three unique albums and on any given day, depending on my mood my preference will probably change. Bottom line, there all fecking great.

I Believe/HAND - I Believe - its a classic!
KTF/I Wanna Be Loved - KTF, but only just
Sleep/Welcome - I like welcome, but i think Sleep is more quality, and i like that as well
In These Arms/Who Says - Was never a fan of Who Says, so...In These Arms
Bed Of Roses/LMS - neither really, but if i had to pick one...no, neither.
Mother/Bells - Mother - the intro makes the entire song, and the intro to bells..urgh!
Dry County/Wildflower - love them both...Dry county is better, but i like them equally
Woman In Love/One Last Cigarette - Woman In Love
Fear/I Am - Fear
I Want You/Complicated - love them both!
Blame/Novocaine - Blame, by far
Soul/Story - Soul, again, by FAR.

so..maybe i shouldn't have done this, its pretty clear that for me, KTF trumps HAND hardcore.

I Believe/HAND - I Believe, maybe their best opener.
KTF/I Wanna Be Loved - KTF, no competition there. I do like IWBL, but KTF is just what I wish BJ still was.
Sleep/Welcome - Sleep, not a favourite but WTWYA sucks big time.
In These Arms/Who Says - ITA, WSYCGH doesn't belong anywhere near a BJ album.
Bed Of Roses/LMS - BOR, LMS is a lie though musically good.
Mother/Bells - Mother - BOF is a bad joke.
Dry County/Wildflower - DC, Wildflower doesn't work for me, it's like a mix between I got the girl, Joey and Mystery Train, 3 songs I hate, when DC is perfection.
Woman In Love/One Last Cigarette - Woman In Love, it's a rock song.
Fear/I Am - Fear, because I always felt they should have done more of these (short hard rockers). I Am is great too though.
I Want You/Complicated - Complicated, I don't like any but IWY is KTF's very weak point.
Blame/Novocaine - Blame, it rocks, Novocaine doesn't though it has it's interesting sides.
Soul/Story - Soul, one of the most underated songs by JBJ himself. SOML is exactly the kind of song I want them to quit.

Thats a silly way to compare the albums. For example, "I wanna be loved" beats the crap out of a lotta KTF songs but because you put it up against a classic like KTF it comes off second best.

Personally I think its still too soon to compare HAND to earlier work. I love HAND ("living life" and "yesterday/tomorrow" refernces included) but I believe that a lot of people here wanted to bash it before it was released.

As for KTF, if that had been released in 2005 instead of 1992, I'd imagine the usual suspects would criticise it (SWID - dross, ITA and BOR - cliched drivel, IIWYM - dreadful lyrics, WIL, IWY and Fear - filler). Not that I dont like KTF, I think its a classic but it does have a lot of filler songs and IIWYM has some of the worst lyrics they have ever written.

It'll perhaps be 12 months before HAND can be analysed in context. A lot of people (me included) thought Bounce was their return to form but looking back now, it had too many sugary and puke inducing ballads to be considered anything of the sort.

It's just one way among others. Not sure there's A way of comparing two albums that can be undisputed.

What would you suggest?
