Clearly Bon Jovi will never live up to the high standards you have set for them, and their core fanbase will always be less than the dirt beneath your shoes...as my kids say, "Cry me a river...build me a bridge...then just get over it!"

Now, my dear, I would suggest that, rather than frustrate yourself with lower life forms like us, you take your erudite, psuedo-intellectual commentary elsewhere...like maybe a message board for a tribute band to dead, neurotic, Seattle grunge rockers....

I will continue to enjoy my crappy, populist, escapist, pop trash with or without you...

Okay...back to my life...

Peace

Trish

Well said mate.

why the **** would they?

it doesnt matter if there are bigger or better bands out there who sound similar- if it wasnt for fugazi there wouldnt those kind of bands out there. they paved the way- thereby being INFLUENCIAL.

? surely you are kidding? How is BJ an influential band - what have they done that was so innovative to place them among the top 50?

Iron Maiden #1? What a joke. There have been many more trendsetters before IM grew into their leather pants....

I think BJ deserve to be amongst the top 50. The comment I made there was a joke of course but BJ influenced quite a few bands when you think about it. Besides, they brought back the acoustic guitar(or at least are credited by MTV for doing that) and the talkbox in Prayer. All in all they made hard rock an accessible music style. Some may say it's just spoiling the genre and they might be right, I think it was a good thing to do. Besides, I am curious whou you would put in the top 25 for 1981 - 2006?

About MAIDEN, which would those bands be, having in mind that the reference period is 1981-2006? Black Sabbath, led Zeppelin, etc...I suppose are being disregarded for not releasing records, or BIG records in this period. Others would be Motorhead and Judas Priest which in my opinion should be the Top3.

My top 10 by the way(has nothing to do with preferance):

1) Judas Priest
2) Iron Maiden
3) Motorhead
4) The Pixies
5) Nirvana
6) Metallica
7) Slayer
Pearl Jam
9) Van Halen
10) The Replacements

You can't be influential if noone listens to you. I must admit, I know them by mistake because there were some songs by them on a mp3 cd I had but their sound like other bands who are bigger and BETTER and HAD A LARGER IMPACT and are ALSO from the 80s, like The Pixies. If Fugazi is there then Phish obviously should be there too and I don't know how many other bands! Come on, it's a joke, isn't it? To be influenced by somebody you must be aware that that somebody exists.

But I am not that full of myself that I claim all my favorite bands are most influential Take note: My other most favorite band isn't even on that list (Soundgarden) *gasp*

Spunky, you completly disregard METAL. I mean most of the BLACK METAL, DEATH METAL, POWER METAL etc. they are all MAJORLY influenced by IRON MAIDEN. I actually, don't think there's any hard rock band out there not to be influenced by them somehow. Queensryche, Dram Theater, Metallica...Iron Maiden definitely belong up there. I only put Priest above because in my opinion, Priest even influenced Iron Maiden (and I like them a bit better)

also funny how you put motley crue and gnr there and you wouldn't put BJ in the top 50.
