Ok...but where's the influence? I agree, they were fresh but they were the last real rock 'n' roll band before Grunge. Buckcherry and alike came much later and had little to say. In my opinion, GnR's "influence" on the music world was tiny because nobody could even come close to Appetite. Thinking about Bon Jovi, MTV was basically invaded by Bon Jovi wannabe's: Warrant, Winger, Skid Row, XYZ, L.A. Guns etc..., they all took the Bon Jovi formula therefore Bon Jovi were much more influential than GnR were (see it as positive or negative but it's true)

Motley Crue was DIFFERENT! They were as bad as they came. They pushed the envelope - they kicked asses - they wore more make up than anybody else. They didn't care about anything - they had no agenda other than to be loud and to kick ass. Tommy's drums has BALLS!
With Motley Crue I would agree although they are the worst musicians ever.

BJ were pretty. They were like vaseline - EASY - smooth - SAFE! You could put them in the most handsome bands of our lifetime To me there is nothing original to BJ - I give you the acoustic thing - reluctantly....

Again, you are mixing up originality with influence. I guess we had a similar discussion about Europe. They actually were both highly original AND influenced a shitload of metal bands and genres but because of the "vaseline" image they created later on, they simply are disregarded nowadays - of course, they come from Scandinavia which might be a disadvantage.

Ok, where the hell were Led Zeppelin in that list? They were more influential than any of the listed bands.
Guns and Roses - Motley Crue rehash, but with a better guitar player. Nikki Sixx OD'd, 5 years later Slash OD'd. Don't get me wrong, I love G&R but Crue were the ORIGINAL. *sorry if someone said that, I haven't read all of the posts*.
The Who - they were still going in 81. Why were they not included?
My lord, is it any wonder I read Q?
However, it was nice of them to feature the Jovi, though. It's rare that they're featured and it sure is nice to see them.

Point taken. Totally ignored the fact that the list was from 81. Damn! Sorry.
