Well, do you think Elvis would have been quite the legend he is? Do you think Janis Joplin would have, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix??? Most probably not. Does this mean they had no talent? Come on! Look at Jacko even. People almost forgot what awesome music he used to make until he died. That's the way things go.
Now Kurt Cobain appeared one day and turned around the music scene on his own. Name ONE other song to have the same impact as Smells Like Teen Spirit? I doubt there is one. Name ONE other band that had the same impact as Nirvana? I can't think of any. Now there's two options. 1) Cobain was indeed a genius so he deserves all the post-mortem recognition. 2) Cobain managed to fool us all with a bunch of shit albums which somehow destroyed glam rock and heavy metal. Whichever option you choose, whichever of the two Cobain actually accomplished, he's still deserves to be a legend.
