To the guy above... no, they don't make Iron Maiden solos, but they used to make very good solos. And yes, the solos in boucne sound pretty lame.

One more point to the discussion. Who is a good guitar player - the one who plays very complicated solos or just the one who plays GOOD MUSIC? It is strange how noone never cared about drum solos by Tico or piano solos by David, btw.

Only the weak guitar players have to show off with what they can do. Richie doesn't need that. That's why he IS the best guitar player in the world for me. He always played solos that supported the songs and not his ego and he's still doing the exact same thing.
In my opinion one of his best solos is the acoustic solo of Diamong Ring. It's so short and not much is happening but it gives me goose bumps.

Ok, perhaps I need to clearify myself... I don't need a solo that is of ungwie malmsteen quality, but I think that a solo shall be a story within the story

Do I need to explain that?

Sure, the solos are not that long as on e.g. Drycounty, but I think they're still good.

Someone should say it: it's not the length that counts... Ooooops...

Howdy!

Is it possible that the guys had written a few songs with big, long and impressively noodly solos for the album, and then thought "No, we won't put that on the album, because there are better songs with smaller, shorter and impressively un-noodly solos in...." Is that possible? I dunno, just an idea, saves arguing, there should be peace within the board....

Exprets in the music industry believe the youth of today is supposed to have a shorter attention span. I think this is the primary reason you don't find the solo's; and why the length of Bon Jovi's songs have decreased from an average of about 5 to 5 and half minutes, down to 3 and a half minutes to 4 minutes.
