I like three, maybe four, songs from 'What About Now'.

On 'The Circle', I'd say 'Brokenpromiseland' and 'When We Were Beautiful' are listenable.

Starts off poorly but when it gets going, its decent enough. Acceptable but no more. Wouldn't miss it being off the album but don't hate it. Would've liked to see it performed live on the circle to see if it would have improved my taste for it.

Amen is a more obvious rip off, but I really don't think it's coincidence that the band covered Hallelujah throughout 2007 and 2008 and then released a song in 2009 with Halle Halle as the main hook

Boring, trite song. Kinda fits the theme that it seems Jon and Co. were trying to go for on the Circle, about time and mortality, so I guess in that sense it's a fitting end track. But unfortunately it's so uninteresting that it just feels like filler. The 'Halle Halle' crap was definitely a feeble Hallelujah lift (but altogether not as criminal as Heyman is). But the song also has what has to be one of the most insincere, bogus lyrics Jon's ever wrote: 'In these hands I've held a GUUHUUUN.' Yeah, okay Jonny boy. I still like the Circle, love a handful of songs from it, and suspect it's the last release from Bon Jovi I'll ever give a damn about. But Learn to Love is meh...

This, Work For The Working Man and Fast Cars are the songs that I listen the less of The Circle. Still, I think it's a nice song, could be better without the ****ing Halle Halle.

The Circle is filled with "Halle Halle", "Yeah Yeah" and "Sha La La" that kills the mood of the songs. Learn To Love, Bullet and When We Were Beautiful could be better songs without that crap.

Just because Learn To Love had the Halle Halle refrain doesn't make it a Hallelujah ripoff. Those were a weak attempt to give the song a sing-along quality (which is ironic, considering it was never played) You want a Hallelujah ripoff, listen to Amen. That said, I like Learn to Love. It's not great, probably in the middle of the pack as far as The Circle goes, but musically I like it a lot. Lyrically it has it's ups and downs.

Y'know, Midnight In Chelsea has Sha-La-La's but I've never heard anyone complain about that.

Because they fit in the song, but the "sha la las" in WWWB ruins a nice acoustic moment, and the "yeah yeah" in Bullet seems too forced to me. The "halle halle" in Learn To Love aren't so out of place, I got to admit.

Always liked the song. Kind of a moody track - the chorus isn't exactly huge, but it sure is catchy. Easily in the top 20 of the post 2000 tracks.

Knocking the band for adding shalas and heys at this point is pretty silly. You can't say the recent ones seem forced and give a pass to literally decades of other examples.
