Very true Becky. When it came to his movies, Jon got better reviews from critics for his movies, then his music. Rolling Stone magazine loved The Leading Man but when have they ever said anything good about Bon Jov's music?

Do I think that Jon is a great actor? no but he wasn't bad either. I could go and watch his movies and think that was pretty good. If he was so bad, he wouldn't have gotten lead roles.

The Leading Man, he carried that movie, that was his film. Row Your Boat, again, that was a Jon Bon Jovi film. Even No Looking Back, he was the third lead in that movie. He was getting film roles because the powers behind these movies saw potential. Even the small roles that he took were good. Pay It Forward, I liked him in that.

unlike in the music business in the movie industry ppl can change their mind about a person. At the beginning Jon was a surprise and he got nice reviews but those vanished after a while .. and unlike in music again better than flaming him they decided to ignore him when it was bad .. that doesn't make the result of his acting career that good though ...I think the nice reviews he got are now old .. from 2000 or before ... since that he got worst ....I have read very NOT NICE things about him in movies related magazines ..but jbj with the movies industry it's like with the sports industry pro have a gentle smile and avoid conflicts but they don't think jbj is from their league they don't dare to slam him but that doesn't make them think he is KING Midas ... ONLY HIS WORSHIPPERS THINK THAT
I thought he was good at first then I began to cringe more and more and more I am I think reacting in a not that severe way actually.I have seen all his movies or tv series except cry wolf because this is really not my kind of movie (I have the dvd the girls watched it but not me )
The other day ally was on on night tv it means they rerun all the episodes one after anther .. by accident i bumped into Jon episode (I think episode 2 with him ... ) and they aired all the episodes during the night like 5 or 6 in a row ..I watched and realized that the whole thing so totally embarrassing ...not his fault 100% as the script is absolutely dreadful but really Jon is terrible .. terrible terrible .... after that I thought it was really unfair to be slammed to say he is bad actor because geeeze IT IS TERRIBLE INDEED... my daughters left the room saying ewww while they can watch majorly cheesy stuff but played in a professional cheesy way ...I asked why and the reply was exactly what I am saying the man is unable to make the watcher forget he is JON BON JOVI so the result is most of the time just plain afflicting ... mom this is Jon there ! what he is doing ? it is grotesque !

He was VERY GOOD in 30 rock I LOVED IT because he was playing BON JOVI and THAT WAS FUNNY ... a favor to be in the show ? I don't know but it was meant to serve Jon .Alec Baldwin lives in the same building it was that sort of connection ...ok you come to the show next week ! ... it was a cool fun offer that could have boost the circle sales and it was tongue in cheek brilliant ! I loved the humour about Jon being stuck with nbc residency Bon jovi as a chef that was one second but paint quite well some sort of reality ... YOU BUY YOUR EXPOSURE ... lmao ........ most of Jon movies have buddies connections if you dig a lil bit .... roberto benabib did little city and ally mc beal for example it's not like he is picked up among a list because he is fantastic it is business or agent deals not really about talent.

I confess not caring to find out what critics said about Jon's acting, LOL but I will take your word for it.

I agree that Jon is not the best actor out there, but I realize he didn't pick such great projects either. Sometime even the best Oscar and Golden Globe winner actors, can not save a movie that sucks, and we all could think of some of those hyped projects that tanked at the box office.

It's easy to say an actor is bad and leave it there, some are but normally a good performance is the result of a good script and a good director, that knows what he wants of the actors.

Jon was good in some roles, others terrible but I won't label him as a bad actor, just bad judgment on picking roles.

I'm confused now. You thought he was good. Then you saw his later work and decided his early acting that you thought was good was in fact bad?

Jon was never the best actor in the world. No one says that, apart from the odd sheep we won't bother about. But his acting is alright. His MOVIES got worse. Last decent movie he was in was Pay It Forward.

You could also say that if Jon was a better actor he would be offered better scripts.

I can only believe that movies like Pucked were the best scripts he was getting offered in recent years.

I am sure if he was getting offered better roles with better casts he would have been taking those roles too for the most part.

I don't enjoy Jons acting, I never have. However he can and will do what he likes, my opinion is of no use to him I am sure.

I think his first films were fresher he was trying more honestly then he got worse probably because thought he was big .... if you saw all the movies you can see that his best movies were the first in the list ..U571 or pay it forward are fine because you can forget JBJ in it he is so not central ... it's not because jbj is in briefs that the movie is good nor if he is crying it's because he is playing well ... some ppl just need to get over the fact they are starring at their fantasy man ... a movie is not about that in my honest opinion you have to enter a world and believe in it ..Jon almost never managed to make me feel that way ...beside 30 rock where he is HIMSELf : BON JOVI ..... not even jon bon jovi but that BON JOVI
From the beginning imo he is just a pretty face anyway ,not a good actor. For some roles (** see below) it is bearable but the more he acted the worse he got .. sorry it is so complicated ..I think I don't make less sense than anyone else as all this is just opinions it is not sense it's opinion.

So now we've reached the point that Jon will no longer be able to brag that he dumped Halle Barry because she apparantly felt too good for him and his movie anyway. She's been replaced by another b-actress named Katherine Heigl. That'll be just perfect, a 50 year old aging rock star chasing a 32 year old blonde.
