WGIGO didn't make the top 100. LOAP made 75, you should've downloaded that one. But look at the bright side Jimmy Hill, you made the companies make over 1000 euro's, which is like 1,500$ now and days. try it again when they release a new song. They'll be #1 eventually.

I think it would have been better to download Dry county for no1. It was a hugely requested song on their tour. It'd probably have done alot better then WGIGO and at least it would be their OWN song (without big n rich). It would be a great 1st no1 here in the UK don't you think?

Due to the length or Dry County, it wouldn't have got much airplay on the radio, if anything at all.

So it wouldn't have been a better choice.

Well Oasis had a no1 hit with 'all around the world' in 1998 which has a duration of 9mins 38secs. It wasn't shortened. DC is only a few seconds longer. The total playing time allowed on a cd single is 25mins (40 mins for remix formats)4 songs or 1 remix.

Only just seen this so I didn't download, sorry

For this to be succesful you really need to get someone on the radio to get behind it. Billie Piper re-charted because the campaign was conceived and backed by Chris Moyles on Radio 1, with something like 8 million listeners!

It needs to be planned properly, and well well in advance. Maybe look at previous years charts and see if there is any pattern as to when the lowest single sales are and go for that week.

Once it has been planned and organised well, contact someone like Chris Evans who has a show on Radio 2 and is a big Bon Jovi fan. Make sure there are as many viral components in place well in advance: banners, buttons, youtube vids. Contact as many music websites and magazines as possible - even if they slam they idea, if they write about it's more people will hear about it and some of those will want the quest to succeed.

^^ Good idea.
From what I've heard, the firsr two weeks in January are normally quite low selling weeks, so you need less copies sold/downloads to chart.

Dry County would have fallen flat on it's face. In this day of age no one appreciates good music. Hence why we have Rhianna at number 2

I don't actually know if she's number 1 but y'know what I mean.

I like Rihanna ...

Yeah, the first two weeks in January are typically low selling, hence why Iron Maiden managed to get to number 1 in 1991

The annoying thing is BJ could easily have had a top 5 hit this week if the record company had any brain cells.

All they needed to do was release a LH track to TV/radio (Say Whole Lotta Leavin for example as they already had the video), and then encourage people at the gig to text for a version of it (a live version if chart eligible). I mean put the number on the screens before the concert, even when the song is on. It worked for WSYCGH in '06, but even that wasnt the greatest of efforts (promising a live version from the gig you went to, and then just getting the Boston version). Obviously Id rather they did this with Any Other Day, but thats all it needed. Playing to potentially about 250,000 people, even a fifth of them texting for it would have led to a very strong position.

A glorious chance wasted, but then, the singles charts have lost so much relevance nowadays that it isnt a slight on BJ at all not to have a No.1, and whereas I used to be bothered about it, it now matters not a jot as long as the albums and tours are successful.
