Took another listen to She's A Mystery and Mystery Train ....

Probably still maintaining a 2/5 in general for She's A Mystery, but when you're in the mood for a chillout song that gets higher, maybe to 3 or even 4/5 (quite unlikely that it'll go that high though)

Mystery Train I'm saying 3/5

When I start thinking about it, there are some things that I really like about Crush. Like the fact that it's quite experimental. Like the fact that the songs on it are still actually quite long (probably only about 3 or 4 songs below 4 minutes on there, unlike Bounce which has 7, and at least 5 songs over 5 minutes, unlike Bounce which as far as I can remember only has 1). Like the fact that its fun, and doesn't need too much thought. And like the fact that its got a couple songs that are nice to just chillout to, something thats very rare in the Bon Jovi back catalogue

Id firstly like to emphasize the it was Its my Life that first got me into Bon Jovi properly, had i have bought Crush first rather than Crossroad i dont think id have bought the rest of the catalogue, to be frank.

here i go...

It's My Life - Superb, the only BJ song the majority of people will be able to mention from everything since Always/SIBSN. These Days is great, but there were no real hits on it, the subsequent albums werent so great and apart from IML, there werent any real hits on them either.

Say It Isn't So - solid album track, a bit of a step down as a follow up single to IML though.

Thank You For Loving Me - naff, jon's voice is crap, the lyrics are complete clichéd drivel - exactly the sort of thing that BJ get so much stick for from the critics.

Two Story Town - never really got this one, but a fairly decent album track i guess

Next 100 Years - hurrah a guitar solo, the nearest they got to "heavy"

Just Older - a darn good song, one of the only songs on the album with real meaning, unlike most of the album atleast Jon has something to say here, and he puts it on paper well.

Mystery Train - not bad, not great, wouldnt miss it.

Save The World - in the same bag of rotten apples as TYFLM im afraid, jon keeps trying to rewrite always (not a bad idea) cant seem to avoid the completely overblown ballad both these and AALY from bounce. Open all night is the best ballad he's wrote since stuff off These Days.

Captain Crash and The Beauty Queen From Mars - people say they like this song because its fun or whatever but ask them what its about and theyll have no idea. Its a mediocre song, and even when performed live at Hyde Park i think most well-versed BJ fans groaned....

She's a Mystery - i like this one

I Got The Girl - same as with Captain Crash, even bringing dave&jon's daughters on, or whoever they were, doesnt change the fact its a crap song. Again i can imagine atleast 30,000 fans at hyde park groaned when they began to play it.

One Wild Night. - cheesy, hair metal thing but times have changed im afraid. Noone wants hair metal Bj back, they just want great TD/KTF-esque albums. The song is full of bad clichés and i just cant take the song serously.

i could make a living - i like this, complete change of tack, and nicely stripped down rather lavishly overproduced. if only the band would be prepared to leave more of there songs in this more rough form, Little bit of Soul/love for sale.

CC&TBFM is about a couple who are in love but no ordinary couple. These two people are extremely ecentric, extremely weird and maybe even mentally retarded. The look weird, everything they do is considered stupid, or tragical, by people who see them but they just think "whatever". They get each other, they are perfect for each other and they are madly in love with one another so who gives a shit what anybody else thinks because when it all comes to to it, they are just like you and me. That's what the song is about, just a really, REALLY weird couple doing weird things because they are happy together.

Speak for yourself. I'll take "hair-metal" Bon Jovi over the TD crap any day.

One Wild Night is a 100% rock song!....

Well...I think Crush is better than Bounce!
Say It Isn't So is in my opinion the best song they wrote since These Days. One Wild Night is their most rocky' song since I'll Sleep When I'm Dead and Next 100 Years is a nice try. Just Older and Two Story Town are also listenable but the rest???well....

I quite liked Crush, it is an upbeat feel good album and is ok to listen to ...

Its definately not in the same league as SWW/NJ or even our lovely TD.

Have you see the making of Crush video of Jon driving round NJ, really liked it.

Dawn

Somehow I see none of those happening anyway Though I see hair metal even less than I do TD.
