I believe they're both depressed over this situation with the band and too proud to do anything to fix it; and that's why it seems like Richie's a mess who's spinning his wheels and Jon's just going through the motions, with no voice and no energy. They just don't seem to have the same passion for what they do separately that they have when they work together.
