'The Circle' is just cold and depressing to me. Horrid. Lacks the warmth, optimism and charm of 'These Days' despite that also being quite a dark and moody record.

I listened to WAN the same way I listened to BB. I'd read so many negative comments I was disheartened and prejudiced at the very start! Then, I discovered some real gems on both albums and learnt one thing: critics are critics and your heart is your heart. Some of the so called experts are just opinionated bigheads who credit themselves with the right to tell others what they should or shouldn't listen to.

Right now, I'm taking delight in Room at the end of the world and gave it another chance after you folks praising the song here! Thank you A LOT!

This hits the nail on the head! That's exactly how I feel about it

THINFS is a huge improvement from What About Now, but I still think Burning Bridges is better and I find myself going back to it way more! It has some of Jon's finest performances for over a decade for me.
I could get behind most of this statement... My opinion on TC is slightly different but spot on with everything else...

I'm still working my way through the albums so my option my change a little when I get to HAND...

Hey...we like what we like. Never apologise for that or go in with an opinion that someone has tried to instill in you.

'Lost Highway' is in my top 5 Bon Jovi songs but I'd bet a great portion of this board dislike the song.

Thanks guys! Actually, I'm planning to relisten to all BJ songs but slowly this time. When I became a fan, I was a little too hungry I guess and took everyone's words a bit too reverently. Such threads like this one actually make me revaluate my tastes and opinions on different songs and albums and that's a good thing for sure!

I have always enjoyed What About Now. I LOVE That's What the Water Made Me, Into the Echo, Pictures of You and Beautiful World, and despite its cheesy chorus and non-existent solo, I still enjoy Because We Can (the lyrics in the verses are quite lovely). I'm With You is also a solid track. That's 6 tracks that I still listen to quite often.

Unlike others though, I don't care much for Room At the End of the World or What's Left of Me. In fact I much prefer Amen and Army of One.

My gripe with Army of One is the ridiculously bad lyrics. It's cringe. BUT, I absolutely ADORE the guitar and synth work, especially in the outro. It's so atmospheric and magical. It's the only reason I still listen to the song every now and then.

The Fighter and With These Two Hands I never listen to. Thick As Thieves gets the occasional play, but it's nothing special.

As for the title track, I can still enjoy it. The fact that it was overplayed on tour killed it a little for me, but I don't hate it nearly as much as others do.

Spot on. Except that, for me, it's Water, Beautiful World and Thick As Thieves that I absolutely love. I have no problem with the lyrics for Army Of One. The only song that's maybe a little too bland for me is What About Now itself, actually. And I could've done without the Stand Up Guys songs or Richie's (yeah I know, that's all deluxe editions only)...

I love Every Road, and would take Aftermath over WAN any day, but I think it was an odd choice to include it, even though it's only on the deluxe edition. It really doesn't fit with the rest of the record. I must say, it's inclusion did begin to set off alarm bells in my head. There must of been some discussion somewhere about having that song included...I always thought it must have been some condition that Richie had in exchange for something to have it included. I guess we'll never know. All just speculation on my part of course.
