It's My Life sounds great, and actually works. It takes the basics of the song and changes the whole arrangement, yet it sounds fine. Bad Name is not that bad (no pun intended), the idea of making it bluesy is actually good, but it just doesn't work for me. Everyday, on the other hand, delivers, as far as the vocals are concerned, a lot better than the original - at least for me. BTBMB is okay, it's just that here the vocals are totally whiny. The unplugged version from the 80s was a lot stronger as far as that is concerned. The slide guitar is a nice touch though. Prayer is horrible, so is I'll Be There For You. Downright disgusting. The live version of The Distance is great, though. Faith, on the other hand, sucks, as far as I can remember. Speaking of that - I can't even remember the rest.

I completely agree....great idea...play this version of Bad Medicine instead of the original. That takes care of one bothersome stale point in the show by freshening it up. Then Sleep While I'm Dead will either have be performed on it's own or dropped.

Its a decent album. Save for the ballads, which are so horrendously bland, there are some good arrangements on there. Personally I think Bad Medicine, Wanted, Prayer, Faith, LYHOM, Bad Name and Everday come out the best.

IML sounds great BUT having watched the DVD(excellent BTW) back last night Jon said that this version brings out some of the hurt. Which to me doesnt work because the first line of the song is "This ain't a song for the broken hearted". Maybe I'm being picky but to me IML is a big loud affirmation of Jon taking control of his life. The toned down version doesnt fit the lyrics, there isnt much scope for changing that song IMO.

Its easy to have a pop at them and say they just wanted something out for Christmas. But a new greatest hits with LMS and TOH would have been a lot easier and sold a lot better. Well done to them for having the balls for making the album. Was it a resounding success? No. Was it the crime against music that makes you wish God had never invented ears that some people think it was? No.

I don't hate this record, but I have to say I only listened to it about 4 or 5 times after buying it. Since then it's on the shelves.

I quite like Wanted, Everyday is arguably better than the original, and I also enjoy Lay Your Hands, Prayer, and Faith, but IML bored me after the first few plays.

I liked the majority of the arrangements when I first heard it and I still listen to this cd quite a lot actually. I'm in agreement with most here that the TLFR version of Everyday is better than the full on electric version.

when TLFR came out I hated it, only liked about 3 songs. Since then I have really grown to like it, I find it soothing a chilling out type record, so I often listen to it now.
