Default Livin' on a Prayer - Thumping Bassline

After watching the official LOAP video (and comparing it to most live LOAP performances), have the band decided to turn down Hugh's bass?

Back in the official LOAP video, the bassline is thumping and you can distinctively hear it. In nearly all live performances however, you can just barely make it out.

Any ideas why?

I'd say it's just your hearing, or perhaps your speakers, because I can hear it well enough.

From Letterman recently - - sounds fine to me there.

When Slippery When Wet came out, I read a review which described its bass lines as "whining like cranky children." I've also read where Dave says has a copy of that review framed and hanging on his wall!

P.S. I was just starting out in music journalism at the time, and I described Slippery as "rock's answer to Thriller!"

What an odd and random description. I'd say whoever wrote that has suspect review capabilities.

What was with the scarf around Jon's neck? Does he have to keep his throat warm in his old age?

Don't know - I was at that Letterman show and the scarf looked odd to me too. The Letterman theater has the reputation as being super chilly (maybe because David Letterman likes it that way?) but that night the theater was actually quite warm. Perhaps Jon was just being prepared for chilly. I have also heard that he was sick that night. But the next night was the Best Buy Theater show and he showed no sign of being sick at all. His voice certainly wasn't off.
