Think about all the audio & video just waiting to be found at attics/cellars/warehouses...not to mention the huge archive of the band...

Totally agreed!
I became a fan around 2004/05 and a real avid collector arount the Lost Highway era. For those four or five years (until a little after the 2011 tour) I was working like crazy on finding unseen recordings and shows. For example, it took me about 4 years (and definitely some cash) to get the filmer of Giants 2006 to release his stage shot video of the 3rd night:
This was just one of countless tapers I had contacted through that era and it always had cost a lot of time and nerves, but in the end it was worth it when you finally had the recording in your hands.
Besides that I had tried to gather as many old VHS/audio tape collections as I could. Many former traders were retiring during that period and I think that I actually checked through around 1,000 VHS and almost as many audio tapes during these years. At one point one room in my grandfather's attic was just stuffed with boxes of old tapes.
But when you get to the point where you can't connect to the band and their newer music like you used to, it gets harder and harder to keep the motivation alive. So, one day you realize that priorities in life have shifted and take a step back.
