When I got into Bon Jovi... it was because I heard Bad Name on the radio. This was before my small town had MTV.

When MTV was added to the cable line up... LOAP was in heavy rotation. And I got a good look at the guys...and I thought they looked weird.

As I said, I lived in a small town that borders on a military base. I had never seen guys with long hair and make up.

Anyhow.. it was the music that made me a fan. Not that I don't think that Jon and the guys are good looking, but for me it's the music that matters.

ohh a million times, but you'll never see me screaming, crying, shouting "Crush me!!!" in front of a couple of thousand people. And being that it's a Rock concert I consider this out of place. That's all.

I liked their music long before I knew what they looked like. I didn't get MTV or VH-1 until I was in college and I've liked Bon Jovi since I was in elementary school. I only found out what they looked like by buying the CDs (or tapes, at the time) and opening the case or by flipping through magazines. I had SWW and NJ both long before I ever saw any of their videos. I think the whole idea that people buy CDs based on looks is a little overplayed. I mean, who buys CDs for looks? Really?

but the fact remains, if Jon was Meatloaf but all the songs were the same they would not be as popular. sad

I agree that Bon Jovi may not have gotten so popular, so fast if it werent for Jon's looks and charisma garnering attention to the band. We all know bands that are very talented, that dont ever get that big break. However, even if looks got BON JOVI noticed, talent and hard work kept them going twenty years. Most of their success is due to grueling touring schedules back in the day. IMO, They earned it.

To answer the original question, Looks or Music ? I am woman enough to say Jon's looks and charisma attract me. The only performer I've seen in concert with that much charisma was Elvis. On the other hand, I wouldnt be listening to Bon Jovi CD's in my car everyday, or collecting bootleg CD's if I didnt love the music. And, what about JOVI live ? Its a feast of sight and sound. The only thing better than listening to a Richie solo, is SEEING him play the familiar riffs.... He is so underated.

If it wasn't for their music, I would never have payed any attention to BJ. Don't get me wrong, Jon looks great, they all do for their age, but in the end it comes down to their product. I consider it a perk to have an attractive frontman, not a necessity. And I honestly don't think it's the looks that took them this far. I sincerely think they have a lot of talent. So, if you ARE into them because of Jon, well that's fine. I'm just not one to spend 15-20 dollars on a cd because the frontman looks hot.

I must admit, 1,5 year ago, I was waiting for AALY on viva just because of the guys...
but it was then.....
when I got to know their other stuff, the look is not important now.

on the other hand: what's wrong about spending money on cds just to look at them?
they make lot of money on their looks....
