Lost Highway

Ok so, I know a few people on here hate this song, to me I never really hated it, I just didn't love it. I hated the production it got on the album and the fact that it opened practically every show on the LH tour. But maybe it's just me getting old, but the lyrics really have gotten to me. Specially the first verse really describes a lot of the emotions going through my head these days.

I decided to go back to it after watching the live performance of Rio in Madrid earlier this month. Do you still think the same of this song 3 years later? has your view changed at all?? discuss.....

For me it is the epitome of Bon Jovi "going country". A few licks from steel guitars and a bit of twang and the LH album was born. It's a very by numbers song about a highway and life, filled with pedestrian lyric like:
I finally found my way, say goodbye to yesterday. Hit the gas, there ain't no breaks on this lost highway."

The whole thing just feels very average and it doesn't often end up on my playlist.

I still think the album is shit but I do have a new appreciation for Lost Highway. It sounds much better this tour than on the actual Lost Highway tour and it really caught me by surprise how much I enjoyed it in a live setting.

I actually really dig the song. Realistically, it's a middle of the road Bon Jovi song, but one that I do find myself rotating in my listening a lot. Like Javier, I find I can relate to the lyrics a lot, especially the bridge, especially relating to college life and such.
As far as live goes, I could live without hearing it many more times, but I do enjoy it live. Especially the slightly more "rocked up" arrangement.

I hate the song with passion ... I hate the album and I hate how much the band seems to love this song It makes me feel angry seen it in every fakin' set How many times did I use the word hate?

My stance has never changed on it. I love it and probably always will even though it's not actually that 'good' a song.

I still wish it was the opener since I heard 'Prayer' in my only LH show.

Just enough times to sound over the top, but not enough to sound insane J/K

I should have mentioned that I still don't rotate it on my iPod but like I said I do have a new respect for it live and found it enjoyable. I still don't find the album version enjoyable.

I love the song and always have. I found much of the CD bland and not nearly as country as they thought they were being, but that was one of the stand out tracks.

Pretty varied opinions so far. It's amazing how one live performance can make you go back to a track you might have overlooked before and end up liking it better years after you first heard it.
