I listened to the song again and caught something in the beginning. Before they start singing, Richie says "Hit me!" I couldn't make out a lot of what they said besides that. The "shotgun" part I mentioned before had something to do with drums. I think.

The song was done at a party or something, Ill write down what the NJ cover says -

"Love For Sale was recorded late one night in the swamps of Jersey at a place called Chalet Sound by John Allen and Chris Cavallaro (in the middle of one hell (in italics) of a party...."

Hope that helps.[/i]

In my brochure (I have no idea what to call the little catalog with all the lyrics!) in the CD - box it is written that the song love for sale was recorded during a party somewhere... that could explain the really strange lyrics!

Tico said that love for sale was recorded late after a diner and Jon was actually more or less drunk. it was a funny song, and the feeling was funny.

I personally don't like the song.. Together with Sleep When I'm Dead they are the worst.

it's a good song... it's a bit of fun but they still did it in the rock n roll way they approached all their music back then...

good contrast to end an album
