Lyric Question? What's it mean?

Hehe...don't organ grinders always travel around with little monkeys wearing fezes?

I've always interpreted Organ grinder as a sort off boss- where I hail from (don't know about you guys) it it a metaphor for the person in charge, i.e. "You'll have to speak to the Organ grinder" means "You'll have to speak to the gaffer/boss/chief" so I thought it meant that the girl was moving on to bigger and better things, to a man who could offer her more in the material sense, i.e., an organ grinder's lullaby...
