Default Man and Machine (H&E feat. Richie Sambora)

Did anyone know that in the middle of his recording sessions, touring with Bon Jovi, and doing his solo promo stuff, Richie did a song with Heaven and Earth (Stuart Smith's band who he worked with before) called Man and Machine.

Here's the album - like the last H&E record, it's very old school - lots and lots of Whitesnake all over the place. And the song just rocks! Proves to me once again that Richie is just sick of the junk that Bon Jovi produces and calls 'music'.

Amazon.com: Dig: Heaven & Earth: MP3... Amazon.com: Dig: Heaven & Earth: MP3...
Anyhow - Dig is definitely worth a listen. Very good album!

Richie's playing talkbox on that song. But the whole album's got a nice, organic 70s sound and feel to it. Grew on me a lot since I first listened to it on spotify! I wish Richie would do more of this stuff instead of that white thrash beautiful crap.

How do you know it's just talk-box? To me, all of it sounds like Sambora. Even the arrangements have old-school Sambora written all over them.

"It was interesting to hear, because Richie [Sambora] played on it. I didn’t really push it with the guitar solos or put anything on there because I knew Richie was going to play on it. And it’s funny because Joe plays slide, and he was like, ‘I can play it,’ and I said, ‘No, don’t worry about it, because Richie’ll play it.’ … And of course, Richie came in and did it and it really put the icing on the cake, especially with that talk box on there."

Actually I don't know it exactly. I just read that somewhere and supposed it was the only thing he played and Stuart did the rest of the guitars or at least the rhythm guitar work.

Edit: Found this on the H&E homepage:
"Whitesnake fans will love the raunchy, sleazy blues rocker “Man & Machine”, featuring rampaging Hammond organ, and some sizzling slide guitar & talk box from guest Ritchie Sambora." ... and: "(...) Man and Machine featuring Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora’s signature talk box and slide guitar, all deliberately sounding like it was recorded quite a few yesterdays back."

So apparently it was talkbox plus slide guitar from Richie.

There isn't much more than that in the song anyway (from a guitar perspective)...but those licks are just awesome. The arrangement is very reminiscent of Damned though...can almost hear some Asbury Jukes in there.

Anyhow - interesting how they deliberately went for the Whitesnake sound. Not difficult to miss
