The only reason BJ worked with MM was to promote themselves in the US! US fans are fickle which has been said, they needed that jump to get back on board.
Have you seen any other fanbase decrease other than the US market?! Nope thought not! That is why they worked with him no other reason.

Hey it did the job here as well i know a good few people who got into bon jovi through that song.
