I have absolutely no problem with Max Martin getting involved with It's My Life. Bon Jovi have gotten to a point where they can experiment a bit and that's just what they did. Turns out their experimant was a success; I wouldn't be here, otherwise. It also proves that a man who generally writes pop songs can write rock songs, too.
At first when I heard that MM wrote songs for BSB, Britney, etc, I was a bit uneasy, myself. But it didn't make me like the song any less. And if people have a problem with Bon Jovi colaborating with MM, I read somewhere that MM wasn't as heavily involved with writing the song as Jon and Richie were.

Max Martin has only worked with Bon Jovi on one song. So it's really not that big of a deal. Now if they had cowritten every single song on a future album with Max, that would be a problem. But Bon Jovi has always worked with different songwriters over the years. That's how the band itself becomes so diverse with its music. Co-writing music is nothing to be ashamed of, at all. Working with Max Martin on a song that ended up being the biggest selling single for Bon Jovi is nothing to be ashamed of, either. It's not "selling out" (that term is being tossed around too often these days). And if it wasn't for that song, I wouldn't be here

Personally I have a problem with Bon Jovi writing with Max Martin. I also understand the points that a lot of people made about the pros of working with him, and agree to an extent, but I have a problem with it because the whole collaboration smacks of commercialism. Bon Jovi were returning after 5 years out of the music business(as a band). The record company couldnt have been too sure that they would have any success upon returning. What do they do? Write a song with a songwriter famous for writing commercial hits. Max Martin doesnt write artistically good songs, he writes hits made for radio(and is quite good at it too). All this talk about diversity implies that Bon Jovi collaborated with Martin because its something they wanted to do and it would be different. I'd doubt its one of Jon's long held ambitions to work with Martin and IML was not altogether different from past efforts. Dont get me wrong, I like the song, but just dont think BJ need to be writing with people just so they can have commercial hits.
The same goes for Andreas Carlsson. AALY is a decent tune but a lovesick teenager could have written the lyrics(ditto TYFLM). For my money, I'd like the writers on the albums to just be Jon, Richie, Desmond Child and Billy Falcon. Then again I'm not a superstar musician, playing stadiums every night with more money than I know what to do with so what so I know

Would that make YOU happier? Less appreciation and acknowledgement and attention from the rest of the world and more Bon Jovi for the elite few?
Would that make you happier? Less success for the band? At whose expense and for whose benefit?
Bon jovi got popular only to 12 year old kida and POP listeners with it's my Life.
NO ROCKER appreciated it at all?
Less success for the band?Who cares???For whose benefit???FOR OUR BENEFIT: a decent hard rock album is the best that can happen to the world right now.
What are AC/DC doing???
