Don't mean that in a bad way, just funny to read as times really do change (again, this isn't a dig at people, just found it amusing)

Let's see what the new studio album is like and then see if the band do really need a new producer. Highly likely that they will, though...
I think that being a pretentious snob towards pop music stop making sense after certain age.

I'd absolutely welcome MM back for a song or two. Look at his track record, he's the best at what he does.

Which I agree with but what he's best at isn't the direction I want to see the band going in. I'd want them to move AWAY from those types of lyrics to be honest.

I hear you, but Jon will go in the direction he wants to go regardless of who is hired as a producer. And for that direction, I am confident MM would get the most out of it. At least the choruses would definitely incredibly catchy.

Complicated is extremely catchy but, in my opinion, is a sack of turds lyrics wise. I don't want a bunch of short one syllable words that are the opposite of each other to make a point. I think having a full on pop producer will just be too over layered. I wish they'd go in a rawer direction production wise.

Keep On Rockin'

Some people still can't handle that Jon and Richie are not the greatest songwriters ever and are not the only ones responsible for the band's success throughout the years.

Their best songs include a 3rd writer in Desmond Child. Max Martin joined the club in 2000.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Other bands do the same thing (Def Leppard & Mutt Lange).

Without Desmond Child, there would be no LOAP and YGLABM, and this board would not exist.
Without Max Martin, there would be no IML and the band would not have a successful 2nd life post These Days.

I don't believe there is any truth to what you are stating... Jon and Richie penned enough great songs on their own, without outside writers, to earn credibility as song writers...

Wanted, NSG, Raise Yours Hands, and Let It Rock were all good enough to become hits and lead singles... Plus it was more than just great songs that catapulted their success during that Slippery period...

Jon was an unstoppable machine back in his prime and it would have happened no matter what....
