It's amazing. This rather non-news was in a magazine interview weeks ago, and nobody bats an eyelide. Then the scummy Daily Mirror picks up on it and it's all over the internet!

He spoke about this in an mag interview about 10 years ago. It's not new info.

If you read the entrire interview in it's context, the interviewer was trying to get into Jon's head to see what makes him tick:

It's not about making Jon look 'hard'.

Jon also spoke about selling drugs long time ago. I recall at least 2 interviews, one from 1995/1996 after winning MTV award for best Rock and one form 2000 on the set of U-571. In that one he also said that the most difficult thing he ever did was "firing my first guitar player who went on and formed Skid Row" and that Michael Douglas was one of the most amazing people he ever talked to.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of “The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test” by Tom Woolfe. After that, listen to some of the music that came out of San Francisco in the mid-60’s. Kesey's son Zane has a great website, www.key-z.com that is put together very well. Once you learn about it, you’ll see how the influence of the San Francisco LSD musical surge of the 60's spread far and wide and is still present this very day.

I happen to know that history very well, thank you. I do work for Revolver.

If given a choice in drugs, anyone in their right mind would rather take the psychadelic (kindergarten-strenght) drugs that The Deadheads and hippies of the 60s and 70's did rather than heroin, crack, meth and things that the 80's crackheads did, some of which were non-existent back in the 60's and 70's. Weed, hallucinogens like X, acid and such are not even really drugs, they're more like... poor decisions!

So yeah, it's true that 60's and 70's started the drug craze but the 80's brought out the worst of it. Motley Crue injected alcohol into their veins. Ozzy snorted pain killers when he was unalbe to get drugs. The worst thing that happened in the 70's? Bon Scott chocked on his vomit after drinking too much alcohol.

There are two definations:

Drug and Not Drug.

All those you mention are drugs, however weak etc. Don't try to label a mentally/physically altering substance as a 'bad decision'.

Hehe… Just a joke there buddy.
I’m talking from experience, from seeing young kids take those and get absolutely shnockered! I’d take alcohol over those any day. Hard stuff, I don’t even want them near me.

LSD in not THE drugs musician use, its THE drug for artist in painting and stuff. Lots of famous painters use psychelics, because they afford a painting that doesnt' make sence.
Imagine Jon on psychedilics and writing a song... no no
